What I Wore To Church Today (After Lockdown)

Woo-hoo! Happy Sunday Sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing?! Guess what's back? Going to church is back! 'What-I-Wore to church' is back! And Sunday Style posts are back! I am so. . . excited!

Church After Lockdown

First, let me take off my mask to show you pictures of what I wore to church today.

Your guess is as good as mine; I wore (more than) a touch of Ankara to church this Sunday. Ankara is my happiness plug. (Lol. What does that even mean?). Whatever. I am always happy to wear the most beautiful fabric in the world. Yeah, I said that.

3 Huge Lessons From Last Weekend

Happy New Week! We are already 27 days into 2020. The year seems to be going pretty fast, or what do you think? I've got a couple of personal lessons to share with you today. I hope they inspire you in some way.

Lessons From Last Weekend

Lessons from last Weekend

I'm one who is very passionate about growth, whether slow or fast. I’ve tried to stay so open to the education that comes from growth and the pain that follows. I desire to LIVE this full life that God has provided me — on every level. Even as I make mistakes (and I make lots), as long as I promise to learn from them I consider it a win.

So, off the top of my head, here are the top three things I’ve learned over the weekend.

1. Red Lipstick Doesn't Hurt

Isn't that a weird lesson? Yes, it is. And no, it isn't. It’s taken me most of my adult life to learn. . . to be less self conscious (my anxiety never helped with that!), and I’ve found this to be especially challenging in my professional life. But last weekend I really saw how much better I've grown when I stopped being too self-conscious.

Back in the day, I'd say "makeup makes me nervous. . . Yada yada yada. . . " But last weekend, I realized I can feel good wearing makeup. It felt good knowing I am still being authentic to myself and proud of who I am, as a person, even with my lips painted red.

Life After "Honeymoon"

We have just had the most beautiful honeymoon vacation ever. As we walked into the living room, reality hit me. I cried. And cried some more. This is a house. Not a home yet. How do I make it a home? When will I start feeling at home here? Suddenly, I started to miss my mum, my dad and my two brothers.

I cried. . .

After Honeymoon

Maybe post-wedding blues are totally normal. Maybe this feeling is expected. After all the excitement of the wedding and honeymoon, it’s natural to feel a dip in mood.

I couldn't explain my flowing tears that night. I was just. . . down. Series of thoughts ran through my mind;

how can I stay excited in this marriage?
how can I continue to have adventures with my husband?
how can I be a great wife?
how do I start building a home?
how.  . .???
just how???

Who Gets Excited About Monday?

Imagine waking up in the morning and you scream "it's Monday! I am so excited to get back to work!". Imagine slapping the alarm off and then break into a musical inspired montage where you tap dance to the bathroom and breeze out the door, excited for what the day holds for you.

That might be a bit exaggerated but it doesn't hurt to imagine, does it? 😀

Get Excited About Monday

Who gets excited about Mondays? Well, it depends on who you ask. Someone who only works on the weekends would be super excited because Monday is the new Friday for such a person.

However, if you work the regular Monday – Friday, you might have to "find" some excitement about Mondays.

In prep for a new week, here is an inspirational quote.

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

Styling This Very Moment

Hey there! How are you feeling in this moment? Yep, in this very moment you are reading this. If you're aware of that feeling right now, then you're living in the moment! 😇

Styling This Very Moment

I told you I'd be taking a break off the blog for about three weeks so that I can commit to writing and finishing the 'HWMH' book but hey, I'm back here in less than two weeks. I couldn't help but to fully enjoy this moment and live in the present.

There is something uneasy about holding up for the future and letting the present slip by. It is not a comfortable position to be in because life unfolds in the present. And sometimes we could be letting the present slip away, letting time to rush past unobserved and unseized, and squandering the precious seconds of our lives as we worry about the future and ruminate about what's past.

STYLE: Colourless Wedding Guest Outfit

Hi sweeties! How are you doing? It's the month of June! Welcome to a brand new month. My birth month. Yippee!

What do you do when you don't know what to wear to a wedding? Finding the perfect wedding guest outfit may seem easy, but sometimes it is not. It's either because you can’t find a style that works for you, a colour that matches the day or because you have a dress in your head but can’t find it your wardrobe.

Here is what I did 😉

Colourless At Wedding

At every wedding I get to attend where I am not on the bridal train or among the asoebi friends, I find it pretty difficult to pick out what to wear.

When I think about what I'm going to wear to a wedding, I almost instantly think about the type of dress, but also the colour. Yes, the colour. Very important.

For you too, right?

Notes From 'Bridging The Gap Between Ruth And Naomi 2.0'

It's April 30. And I can't believe the month has come to an end. April was a blast back to back. Oh, what a refreshing month I had! It was indeed totally different from March 2018. Wai. . .tt, wait, let's not spill until the next Tuesday's Dear-Diary post. 🙂

Here's some dose of inspiration from last weekend's hangout with my girlfriends.

Bridging The Gap Between Ruth and Naomi 2.0

If you have been an ardent follower of this blog, you must have heard me mention 'The Women At The Well (TWTW)' a couple of times. Read here and here.

'Bridging the gap between Ruth and Naomi' is an annual event organized by TWTW. The second edition held last weekend, and it was (*** please help me insert a word to describe how it feels when your heart is sweaming in the ocean of God's love here***).

🎶 how do I describe
a God that is indescribable?
how do I explain
the love that is unexplainable?

Ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh my heart sings ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh 🎶

DIARY: Yellow! Water Salt Of Brown Weekend!

When someone asks you "how was your weekend?" and you want to describe your weekend in one sentence without leaving any part of the story behind, what would you say? I got an idea; use colours.

Your response will help you discern those who really care whether your weekend went well and those who just ask for the sake of it. Those who care would ask for more details and those who don't care would either smile or shrug.

For those who care, here is the loong gist of last weekend . . .

Yellow-Water-Salt-Brown Weekend

Yellow! Water Salt of Brown Weekend! appears to me as the best caption for this post. There is so much to tell you, but where/how do I start from? From the moment I left the house on Saturday to the moment I got home, a million events occurred. I might have to break this experience into parts.

Let's start like this:

Dear Diary, The Wedding Was Like A School Reunion

If you'd like to know the latest gist about me, just check my daily Tweets. Lol. My TL is more current than my blog - My sweethearts on Twitter have heard this gist sinceee.

Anyways, this happens to be my first public diary entry for the year. :)

The First Wedding 2017

I have a lot of friends. It always feels like bragging when I say that, like I’m suggesting I could be the inspiration for a Little Miss Popular magazine or something, but I’m not sure how else to phrase it right now.

Dear Diary, I attended My First Yoruba Traditional Wedding

Yoruba people like party. As in! If you've been to any Yoruba wedding ceremony, you know what I mean. It is usually nothing less than flamboyant. I hear it is the same process everywhere.

I attended one for the first time in my life, and believe me, it was beautiful.

Yoruba Traditional Wedding

Bunmi, the beautiful bride.

Girl, aren't those accessories gorgeous?!

I love weddings. I have proved it here, here, and there.

At every wedding I have attended, the bride is always the star of the day. I wasn't surprised to see Bunmi looking gorgeous and shining brighter than a diamond on her traditional wedding day.

9.10.16

What I Wore: Blue Bridal Dress

I didn't know what title to give to this post because I do not only want to show you what I wore to Bunmi's wedding, but also want to give you a little gist. Let's see how it goes . . .

Wedding Flow

I think I deserve an award when it comes to attending or participating in weddings. Without exaggeration, I have attended over 50 weddings and been on a bridal train for more than 20 weddings. I'm now wondering how many more I have left before I become the bride.

23.8.16

Dear Diary, That Weekend Was Lit! (TWTW, LCC & More)

Everybody has posted about it except me. I just couldn't find the right words . . . until today.

I Was Present

The Women @ The Well (TWTW) had her 4th meet in July. I was there physically, spiritually and mentally.

Oh yes, I have to separate each presence. You know you can be somewhere and not be there, right? A-ha!

28.6.16

Dear Diary, They Made Me Look Like Masquerade

I wasn't just at Chidinma's wedding, but I was also on her train. Chidinma was my school mum. I did mention her here and here.

I Looked Like Masquerade

I love weddings. Oh, believe me I do! I’ve been to a lot of weddings – so many that I have lost count. And I’ve been a bridesmaid a couple of times.

DIARY: The Awesome & The Awkward Things About Last Weekend

Last weekend has come and gone so quickly I can barely remember what happened. *scratches head* It feels like an hour ago yet I'm realizing how fast it went by.  And now it’s Tuesday.

Awesome & Awkward Went My Weekend

You may wonder why I like to share what transpired over my weekend/life. I wonder too. Lol. One thing is I am consciously striving to live life filled with positivity, inspiration and love.

How Last Weekend Went . . . Fantastic!

Mehn, last weekend was so much fun! It was one of those weekends I wish I could freeze. As in, I never wanted it to end. Lemme gist you . . .  :)

Family Weekend

Yep! It was The RCCG's General Family Weekend nationwide. The family weekend is a weekend set aside to celebrate and appreciate every member of the family. It is also an avenue to bring members together in love and unity.

WIW: Ankara Skirt and Bangles + Dear Diary, I Felt So Single There

Hello Sweeties! How is your weekend going? I've been attending weddings for three consecutive Saturdays now. And last weekend was one of those Saturdays. I do not only want to show you What I Wore, but also want to tell you how I had wished I was married. *bites lip*

Bibian's wedding

Oh, I love weddings. I love the kisses. I love the cake, the decor, the music and the bridal dresses. I love the love in everything about weddings. It's ecstatic.

Things We Do For Love

It was the during the Id-el-kabir Sallah break. As usual, the Traffic in Lagos, Nigeria was crazy because many more people (the Muslims especially) were traveling to celebrate the season with their loved ones. So you dare not travel if you can't stand the traffic.

That I'm seated for minutes to hours on a vehicle that's either moving very slowly or not moving at all drives me nuts. I find it unbearable.
Yet I frantically chose to travel for love.

10 Lessons from the "It's in You" Convention

Last weekend was swell! I had the best time of my life at the convention tagged "IT'S IN YOU" which was organized for the youths in The Lagos Province 9 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. There was Teju BabyFace (the host of Teju Babyface show), Toyosi Akerele (the Founder/CEO of RISE Networks), Barr. Ade Adeniji (the Pastor of the Salvation House Ministries) and many other super loaded men.

It was absolutely amazing and beautifully organized. These people weren't just talking theories, they taught out from experience. They revealed secrets/strategies that work. They gave out themselves. They shared. I feel so blessed that I also want to bless you. So you know I've got your back. Enjoy!
