Making Decisions That Go Beyond Black and White

When you're in your “typical” childbearing years, you always get the question, “are you having another one?”. It's all SO personal and there are SO many factors that go into that decision. Physically, can you do another? Mentally, can you do it? What about financially? What does your partner think? What do you guys WANT? I know how incredibly difficult it is to decide… At a point I even asked Google “should I have a 3rd baby”. LOL. 🙈

As I welcome my third baby, I am reminded of the complexities of making decisions…

Beyond Black and White Choices

Some decisions in life seem as straightforward as choosing between black and white—right or wrong, yes or no. But often, the most meaningful choices are found at the point where faith and wisdom intersect.

Take Kachi and me, for example. When we were newly engaged we discussed and agreed on the number of children we would have. It seemed clear-cut and straightforward—a black-and-white decision we were confident about. But somewhere along the journey, we entered the grey: the space where circumstances, emotions, and faith tested our initial decisions.

After our first pregnancy, we revisited our plan. During my second pregnancy, we agreed that if we had a baby boy, we’d stick to two. That would complete our family, and we’d close the chapter.

But, as always, God’s plan is always perfect.

STYLE: How To Stay Timeless

Wouldn’t you love to look back 20 years from now and actually love the outfits you wore?

Timeless Style

Once upon a time, French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent made a statement that changed people’s perceptions towards clothes. He said,

“Fashion fades, but style is eternal.”

This saying shows us that our clothes are major indicators of our personalities beyond wearing a well-tailored pencil skirt or a flowing tulle gown. Simply put, they tell people who we are without saying a word.

Fashion has always been a way for people to express themselves. In an ever-evolving world filled with many voices via trends and several fashion dos and don’ts, it’s important to always stay true to your style.

If you don’t know your true style statement, take this free style guide to figure it out.

What I Wore: Black Never Goes Out Of Style

Hello beautiful people! How are you doing? I hope you are smoking hot for the Lord in this moment. You already know what Sunday's post is about; to give some style inspiration, especially as it concerns Ankara fabric as well as What I wore to church. Let's go right into it. 🙂

Black + Ankara

Black and Ankara style

Black here.
Black there.
Black here and there.
Black everywhere.
Need I tell you how much I love black again?

HWMH: Photos From My Very First Book Launch Party

I’m posting this three weeks after having a thrill celebrating the launch of my book with friends and family. It was a lovely, happy weekend and I still feel like I’m flying! 🦋

*WARNING: This post might be VERY looong!

Pictures From My (First) Book Launch Party

Self-Publishing my book has been quite an emotional experience. I put a lot of myself into it, working long hours through the editorial and cover design process, and then promoting it ahead of the launch and in the days after its public presentation. I hadn’t realised just how much energy I was using, but it definitely caught up with me and after the initial buzz of publication wore off, I felt really drained.

The launch just needed to happen. I wasn’t sure how it would work out, but I'm glad it was lovely. Thank God I reached out to a cool photographer to help capture faces, poses and moments. It was motivating to see a few friends, family and more come out to support me.

I’m grateful to everyone who helped make the day happen and those who showed up. I want to share some pictures with you (as well as to save them here). Enjoy!

What I Wore + How To Spot Fake Ankara

Happy Style-Sunday! I decided to make a post out of a Friday's outfit because yo, it is worth it. When it comes to spicing up your outfit with ankara fabric, you are sure to always count on  your girl. ;)

How To Spot Fake Ankara

There is a massive supply of Ankara fabric out there. I buy, sew, and wear Ankara pretty much. And I see the need to help you differentiate the fake ones from the original so that nobody would cheat on you the next time you go to the market.

What To Check Out For

  1. Texture
  2. Water resistance
  3. Colour design
  4. Print pattern

STYLE: The Vibes Of Black With Red

There is power in colours. The emotions tied into the colours of clothes we wear are what give the colours their power and meaning. The important question is now: am I giving off the right 'vibe?' Am I wearing the right colours that suit me and my personality?

Black With Red Vibes

I find the field of Colour Science quite fascinating, especially since it's not a huge one (researching my post on 'how colours affect your mood' was way playful than I'd thought it would be). After connecting with my clothes to find out how they affect my mood, I knew I had a very exciting ingredient to add to my Style Statement.

STYLE: Laced With Love

Hey sweeties! Happy Easter! Yes, we are celebrating God's love. Praying that His love permeates your entire being this season.

Because I'm in love with helping you feel and look your best, I thought to tell you to try lace fabrics. You really should!

Lace Skirt

This skirt was not one of those pieces you see on a rail in a shop, you grab, try on, and instantly love. I had many doubts about it. I almost dropped it. But thank God I didn't!

Cool People Wear All Black In The Sun

Happy Sunday! How has your weekend been? Boring or busy? For me, this is the busiest weekend I've had so far this year. Oh my! I can't even find the time to make my hair. It's high time I got another wig! I'll be dashing out straight from the church to another event shortly. Phew. Not complaining though. I'm loving it!

Showing you what-I-wore for yesterday's gig . . .

Wearing Black In The Sun

All my life, I have always heard that black clothes absorb more light and make us feel hotter when we wear them. Is this actually true? Isn't it just one of those sayings without substance?

STYLE: Hide Your Colour In Black And White

Yipee! This is my first style post of 2017. I don't even know why I'm excited. Lol. It's not a weird thing to be happy for no particular reason, right? :)

Black And White

If I have my way, I'd wear a combination of red, yellow, blue and green everyday. I love colours, and I enjoy living in them literally. However, I chose to hide my colour on my first day at work.

What I Wore: When All You See Is Black

Hip! Hip! Hip! Hurray! I feel like my birthday was yesterday and that today is the beginning of a new year. I feel so alive, refreshed, renewed, and everything positive! How about you? :)

All Black Everything

I tend to usually be pretty colourful and creative, injecting a burst of colour somewhere in my outfit. Wearing an all black outfit allows me to add eye watering shade of whatever, that's definitely something I love about all black outfits.

STYLE: Walk On The Street Like You Owe Nobody

Happy Sunday! It's not every time shoes, sometimes slippers too. Lol. Lemme show you an outfit I put together on one of those days I just go freely on the street like I owe nobody. :D

You Owe Nobody

Since this post, my definition of "street style" hasn't changed. It is still the normal outfit a normal person wears on a normal day. No paparazzi.

Being free is such a great experience.
