Is Matching Outfits in Marriage Cheesy or Powerful?

I always knew we’d be that couple.

You know, the ones who match outfits, laugh at inside jokes, hold hands and show up at events like a walking love song. Literally. 😄 It has always been my dream. I knew I wanted to experience the love that’s very visible and vibrant. Soft and rugged. Deep and aligned. All that.

And guess what?

God gave me that…. and more.

🤍

Kachi and I have been beautifully matching outfits from the day we agreed to be committed to each other and stay together forever. We match not just in clothes, but also in purpose, in passion, and in vibe. Ah, it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. I love love love it for me.

WWW—What We Wore to Church: Ankara Family Style

From solo slays to squad goals. Now see what the Lord has done!

Once upon a time, it was just me showcasing my Sunday outfits on the What I Wore blog series, finding moments after church service, and setting timers on my camera. Now? It’s the whole fam! A family of 5!

Family of 5 loading... and I couldn’t be more ready!

It’s official! I’m now rounding the last two weeks (or shorter!) of my third pregnancy and everyone in my family is on “baby watch.” The final countdown has begun, and soon my tight-knit little family of four will expand.

Counting Down to a Family of 5

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 + 👶

I got an invite to be a guest at a forum, and I almost declined until Kachi reminded me that by then, I should have offloaded the package and be light enough to show up and dish out what I’ve got. Did you catch that?!

Technically, we’re hoping the baby drops in two weeks or less!

Wow!

It’s a whirlwind of emotions over here. Excitement. Anticipation. Gratitude. Anxiety. Love. Name it.

From a family of two to three, then four, and now five—it’s been an incredible journey of growth, laughter, and love.

One thing I’ve learned through this journey is that love doesn’t divide; it MULTIPLIES. With every child, our capacity to love has grown exponentially. And as we prepare to welcome this little one, I’m reminded that this is God’s perfect design—to expand our hearts and our lives in ways we never imagined possible.

A Bold Approach to Pregnancy Style

Pregnancy has a way of teaching you resilience. It’s a beautiful reminder that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.

This season isn’t without its challenges. There are moments of exhaustion, discomfort, and uncertainty. But through it all, I’ve leaned more into God. God has been my constant, my anchor, and my guide. In His presence, I’ve found strength to carry on, even when the days feel long.

I honestly didn’t feel like going to church today, but I went anyway! The spirit was willing, even though the flesh was weak. Kachi prayed for me, and just like that—boom! I jumped out of bed. Hallelujah!

I whispered, “There must be something packaged for me amongst the brethren today. Lord, I receive all that you have for me today in the name of Jesus!”

These pictures being captured were part of the packages. . .

This past pregnancy I decided to do a family beach maternity shoot. I wanted our joy to come out without it being forced, where the girls would be so happy and peaceful that our maternity shoot would be full of joy. It was also, my last pregnancy so it was even more special than ever before. I have truly never embraced a pregnancy more than I have with my pregnancy with baby boy.

Embrace the season.

How to Be Lovely and Stylish (A Very Quick Guide)

Hi Lovelies. How are you doing? I know… This was meant to be a Sunday-Style post but some other responsibilities have had the best of me in the past few days. It’s better late than never, isn’t it? 😉

Style + Lovely = Stylish Loveliness

Stylish loveliness
😍

I have a gist for you but let’s get straight into today’s post.

What does it mean to be Lovely?

adj. love·li·er, love·li·est
  1. Full of love; loving.
  2. Inspiring love or affection.
  3. Having beauty that appeals to the emotions as well as to the eye.
  4. Enjoyable; delightful.
n. pl. love·lies
  1. A beautiful person, especially a woman.
  2. A lovely object. Dictionary source
I love these definitions.

Every Christian, young or old, should be lovely. The question is, are you lovely? Would the people in your life say, "Wow, she's a lovely person." I thought I'd share the above definition of the word lovely because it really captures what I believe a lovely person should be - full of love, inspiring, having appealing beauty (both inside and out), enjoyable and delightful.

The work of loveliness ultimately starts from within and, among many other things, is revealed in the following ways:
  1. The way you style yourself
  2. The way you speak
  3. The way you carry yourself
Hold that thought while I show you what we wore to church last Sunday. By we I mean, my lovely family and I.

21 Days of Praise: Day 19 - Sovereign Over All

Happy Sunday! Today, my heart is so full. I just want to scream and dance. Let's focus on the sovereignty of God on this 19th day of our #21DaysofPraise series. He is in control of all things, and His rule extends over EVERY aspect of our lives. Hallelujah!

Praise for His Sovereignty

Happy family in green
Happy Sunday, happy family picture. Freshly taken today. 😊

Verse of the Day: Psalm 103:19
“The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.” — (NIV)

“Yahweh has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom rules over all.” — (TPT)
There are no limits to God’s rule. This is part of what it means to be God. He is sovereign over the whole world, and everything that happens in it. He is never helpless, never frustrated, never at a loss.

Sovereignty is all about God’s divine control over everything that happens. Nothing is outside the control of His loving hand—not the schemes of the wicked (even the plans of history’s most evil dictators), not natural disasters, not the workings of demons (or even Satan), and not even my own free will. Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for the good of God’s children, and verses 38-39 imply that nothing is beyond the control of God’s sovereign hand.

21 Days of Praise: Day 5 - The Blessing of Relationships

Today is so perfect. It’s 07/07. Happy perfect Sunday! Welcome to Day 5 of our #21DaysofPraise series. In the spirit of fellowship at church, let’s praise God for the people He has placed in our lives.

Praise for Family and Friends

This picture was taken today. Freshly after church. 🙂

Verses of the Day: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” — (NIV)
I don’t know what my life would have been without the people in it. Life is already hard as it is. No matter how much faith we have, life is hard. We all need trustworthy people to walk by our sides through the ups and downs we face, celebrating our successes, showing compassion for our struggles, and encouraging us to keep going. True friends and supporting family can be hard to find, and if we’re blessed enough to have them, we should cherish and appreciate them as the gifts from God they are.

It is incredibly amazing how God brings people into my life just when I need them. My family and friends are truly one of His greatest gifts. They laugh with me in my joy, comfort me in my sorrow, and walk with me through seasons. Oh, Lord, thank You!

STYLE: Decide What Story Your Family Will Tell

I’ve mentioned a couple times or twenty that What-I-Wore Sunday feature posts have been a little bit of a challenge since I moved to my husband’s church. Thankfully, today's post-church pictures turned out better than usual; our faces didn't scream, “I am hungry and I want to go home!”

Decide What Story Your Family is Going to Tell

Family style in ankara

Everyone who knows me know that I love the fabric called Ankara. I practically live in it. You should come visit me sometime and see the wonders my family does with the fabric. The beautiful colours and patterns inherent in Ankara is how we want our family story to be.

Bright. Vibrant. Colourful. Attractive. Glamourous. Expressive. African. Bold. Versatile. Unique.

You know what I mean. All those good stuff.

I like to imagine my children being asked, what do you like about your family?

Two Babies Under Two Years?! How?

Having babies close in age is not for the faint of heart. Phew. There is double diaper changes, double crying, double rocking to sleep and double everything. My two children are barely 15 months apart. This has been the most terrifying and interesting time of my life.

I share how I’m dealing with all the emotions and tantrums in the video below:

How To Rekindle Romance After Having A Baby

On Heart Rays, we don’t do boring relationships. Having a fun-filled and enjoyable marriage is a MAJOR goal. If you are not intentional, you may get swept up in the intensity and demands of new parenthood that you forget about being a couple. Rekindling romance after having a baby is not a popular topic but it is very common.

Let’s talk.

Romance After Baby

Romance after baby

In the beginning, it was just me and Kachi. We do anything we want and go anywhere we want. We were spontaneous and adventurous. (See our honeymoon adventures here). I could step out for 24 hours without holding a bag. Kachi and I could stay up all night talking, watching movies and building on our intimacy.

We had some pillars of a great relationship: good communication, trust, physical affection, a good sex life, emotional support, shared interests, mutual respect in the relationship, and time spent together having fun.

Then a baby happened! (Meet our beautiful baby here 😊 )

As we started to find our parenting groove, we realized that our intimacy was starting to shake a bit. Thank God for the Spirit of discernment!

Below are some tips on how to bring the passion back post-baby, straight from the heart:

DIARY: Thankful For A Great Support System In My Pregnancy Season

I am deeply thankful and blessed to have this amazing people encourage, uplift and help me get through my first pregnancy phase. God bless you!

My Support System

According to Merriem-Webster dictionary; a support system is a network of people who provide an individual with practical or emotional support.

There's no one word to describe this set of amazing people in my life. . . Family, friends and peers. I guess my support system is the closest thing that can be used.

I just want to thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me, everything you do for me and everything I'm sure you will do for me in the future. I am extremely blessed to have you in my corner.

This entry is specifically for those who gave me PRACTICAL and EMOTIONAL support during my pregnancy season.

Uche (My Husband’s Cousin): Washed my clothes, cleaned the house, cooked and did the dishes for two weeks. She came at short notice. Quite helpful and resourceful.

Prayers For My Nigerian Parents

Today, I am totally grateful for my parents. I am praying for them. I hope you pray for those playing the parental role in your life.

For My Parents

Is today Parents' Appreciation Day? It just has to be because I am so much hinged on appreciating my parents on the blog today. But, is there really a national day as Parents Appreciation Day? Wait. Let me ask Mr. Google.

*goes to Google*
*types what day is parent appreciation day?*
*gasp*

No matter what date it is, we should never fail to celebrate our parents. Let's appreciate their important role in our lives. It's not easy.

DIARY: Yellow! Water Salt Of Brown Weekend!

When someone asks you "how was your weekend?" and you want to describe your weekend in one sentence without leaving any part of the story behind, what would you say? I got an idea; use colours.

Your response will help you discern those who really care whether your weekend went well and those who just ask for the sake of it. Those who care would ask for more details and those who don't care would either smile or shrug.

For those who care, here is the loong gist of last weekend . . .

Yellow-Water-Salt-Brown Weekend

Yellow! Water Salt of Brown Weekend! appears to me as the best caption for this post. There is so much to tell you, but where/how do I start from? From the moment I left the house on Saturday to the moment I got home, a million events occurred. I might have to break this experience into parts.

Let's start like this:

DIARY: This Thing Called Family

I have written this entry five times and deleted it five times. I couldn't get myself to make a point. So I decided to scatter the points all over the place. Sorry.

Family Like Family (CASOR)

You know what? Blood is not always thicker than water. Don't get me wrong. I love my immediate family and I'm extremely close to them, but my close friends are more like my blood than my own extended family.

STYLE: Black on Black + Meet My Cute Bro

Family is the most priceless possession. A blessing above every thing else. Family is always there for us regardless of what happens, and they are the most important people in our lives. Wondering why I'm talking about family? I'm being grateful. :)

WIW: Black on Black
Last Sunday was the grand finale of our family weekend. I already told you here that the weekend is set aside to appreciate and celebrate every member of the family.

How Last Weekend Went . . . Fantastic!

Mehn, last weekend was so much fun! It was one of those weekends I wish I could freeze. As in, I never wanted it to end. Lemme gist you . . .  :)

Family Weekend

Yep! It was The RCCG's General Family Weekend nationwide. The family weekend is a weekend set aside to celebrate and appreciate every member of the family. It is also an avenue to bring members together in love and unity.

2 Truths about Marriage

I love weddings. But these days, I can't help to think that many are confusing a wedding for the marriage. *sighs* There is a huge difference between a wedding and a marriage. Yeah. I'd like to share a bit from the presentation I did on "the concept of marriage" yesterday.

2 Truths about Marriage

Happy Married Life, Uncle :)

It breaks my heart to hear the break-up of marriages all over the world are increasing rapidly. Current studies show that 47% of all marriages end in divorce.  The numbers are not separated from those who go to church and those who don't. I find it a little scary. What in the world is happening???

From generation to generation, the world has attempted to define marriage in diverse dimensions. And all these have brought disappointment, heart break, sorrows, frustration, and unhappiness. I've read a number of books, Christian and non-Christian articles on marriage. I've listened to a number of the radio "experts" - real and supposed. I've heard a sermon or two on marriage. But these truths will forever stand. . .
