Making the Most of the Last Days of Pregnancy

It’s the first week of the year, and I’m still pregnant. I honestly can’t believe Kachi and I miscalculated this thing again. Lol. We were hoping for a December baby, but the doctor wasn’t on board with inducing labor to avoid the risk of a premature delivery. And I guess God had his own plans and probably laughed at ours. Hahaha!

So here I am, still pregnant and soaking up every bit of these final moments.

Last Days of Pregnancy

Final days of pregnancy_amakamedia
First Sunday of the year

Seasons of life are as beautiful as the phrase itself. While this might be my last pregnancy, it’s also the completion of my family. I am giving my daughters their final sibling, and completing our gallery wall with no missing children. Thank You, Sweet Jesus!

So yes, my season of having pregnancy announcements, gender reveals, and late-night feedings may be coming to an end after this baby, but as my husband said, “When one season ends, another begins.” I still have a while left in this one, and what an amazing thing that is. So I am going to breathe and enjoy every second of it, even the uncomfortable parts. I’ll savor the moments of feeling a baby hiccup in my belly, and laugh at the fifth time in a row I get up and waddle-walk to the bathroom, because this season will not last forever as another one begins.

Pregnant at Christmas: Mary’s Story and My Own

It was the Sunday before Christmas and the atmosphere was all lovely, warm and lively. Being pregnant I couldn’t help relating to Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was also pregnant at this time of the year, but her journey was far more extraordinary.

Picture a Pregnant Mary

As I sat in church, surrounded by the warmth of Christmas songs and the joy of the season, I couldn’t help but think of Mary. I felt a deep connection to Mary. She carried not just a baby but the Saviour of the world, navigating a journey filled with uncertainty and yet rooted in unwavering faith.

I also felt grateful. Grateful for this new life growing inside me. Grateful for Mary’s example of faith and surrender. And most of all, grateful for Jesus, whose birth changed everything.

And I pictured Mary.

I wondered how Mary would feel at the moment, seeing all the mothers walking in her footsteps. She said yes to God’s incredible plan, even when she didn’t have all the answers. Her journey reminds me that motherhood—whether we’re birthing children, ideas, or dreams—is always a partnership with God.

DIARY: November To Remember (2020)

One of the best things about recording good memories is that the more you choose to, the easier you find them. The more you profess gratitude, the more you notice things to be grateful for. I love to keep a daily record through the of month November each year. And guess what? The thankfulness muscles respond to exercise!

November 2020

November Diary 2020

Sunday 1 - It’s the very first Sunday of the month. Jamming to a Nigerian Praise Song to church. Visiting my parents. Eating Rice+plantain+chicken.

Taking A Break From Taking A Break

Hi sweetheart. Welcome to a brand new week. Hope you are doing great!

Until His Kingdom Come

Taking a break

Aside from the very first two weeks after my Wedding Day, these past two weeks have been the most exciting, refreshing and eventful one. I literally was locked up at home with my husband for the entire period. And trust me, I enjoyed every minute of it!

It’s surprising how loud silence can be. Especially when you’re not used to it. This has been my experience each day, sitting there in the arms of the one I love. Alone. It was beautifully silent — but for the oscillating sound of our neighbour's generator set — and my soul decompressed from weeks on end in the rush to achieve my goals. My body and soul has found fresh air there that was hard to come by before the lockdown. I am grateful.

I want you to join me. Not in my husband's arms (that is never going to happen) but in some silent, occasional solitude of your own. You need a break from the chaos, from the noise and the crowds, more than you may think at first. You need the spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude.

Dear Diary, My Most Expensive Phone Was Stolen In Lagos!

I didn't want to share this post with you because it is a very painful one. Then again, I said to myself, "you are supposed to be promoting authenticity."

I Want It Back

You know that feeling you get when something breezes past you like the wind, that was how I felt at the point when it happened.

The first thing I did was to reach out for the phone in my bag. I had a panic attack when I couldn't touch anything that feels like a phone.

I poured out my bag's content to be doubly sure I wasn't being paranoid. But it wasn't there!

Dear Diary, I Feel Heavily Pregnant

How can someone who's never ever been physically pregnant understand the feeling of pregnancy? Well, thank God for Google and the likes. I am reading everything about the feeling that comes from the expectancy of a new born baby. So it is relate-able.

Will This Baby Ever Be Born?

I've been "pregnant" so many times. Pregnant with a word. Pregnant with a vision. Pregnant with a dream. Pregnant with a promise. And in all my pregnancies, I have come to understand that timing is VERY important. In fact, timing is everything.

Life exists in time. Time is the river of Life. God gives us Time as the medium for carrying out our life’s assignment. To every purpose, there is a timing; to every assignment, an appointment. To fulfill destiny, God packaged us in the entity called “Time”. To live out the promise, God prepares you for the time.

Sometimes the spiritual pregnancy is long and hard. Sometimes it's frustrating. Sometimes you just feel like you are going to bust wide open. Sometimes the labour pains feel like too much to bear. Sometimes you don't feel like pushing any more.

Some pregnancy end in tears. Some birth bundles of joy. Some come with pain. Some birth streams of opportunities.

Yes, We Can Face Tomorrow!

Hello sweeties! How are you doing? It feels good each time I have to post something on my blog. I think I'm still thrilled about being a lifestyle blogger. It is something I never saw coming. Really.

And you have made it more fun. Thank you.

We Can Face Tomorrow

The song illuminating my heart even as I type is:

"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds my future.
And life is worth the living just because He lives."

I can't get enough of this song. I have been singing with all excitement and joy. I have sang high soprano, high tenor and high alto. I have also sang low tenor. Now I am singing high bass. Lol.

The Most Important Decision

Oh, wow! 2018 is starting up on a Monday. It's a New Week! A New Month! A New Year! What better time to have a new beginning if we want to?!?

There are risks that go with decision making, and risks are too hard for those of us who think too much. We weigh things too much. But a decision has got to be made!

Make A Decision Already!

The really important decisions, unfortunately, have to be made without certainty. If we get married, we do it without certainty that we are making the right decision. If we have children, we have them without knowing how they will turn out. If we decide to be Christians, we do it on faith. And these decisions are sometimes infused with fighting the feeling of whether we are deceiving or hurting ourselves.

2017 So Far . . .

Hi sweets. I pray your heart be ever filled with love, joy and peace. Miss you!

I’ve been thinking of the best way to sum up 2017 so far because I’m optimistic that we still have some days ahead of us, and as we know, "a day is like a thousand years with God." If you follow me on any of the social media sites you probably have an idea of my current mood: JOY. God has been so good!

Boxing Day 2017

When a week, or a month, or a year is over, do you ever wonder, "Wow, what did I achieve?" "Where did time go?" Been there. Done that.

Do You Know How Much Your Dreams Would Cost You?

Sometimes Jesus can beat around the bush, and at other times He hits you deep in your heart with a 2 x4 sword through His parables. I've been a bit uncomfortable lately . . .

Count The Cost

Today's message is to encourage you to keep to your assignments and dreams and FINISH what you started despite oppositions, fears and barriers.

Key word here is: FINISH

Less Is More When God Is Involved

It's a New Week. I believe someone needs this encouragement as much as I do. Let's not deprive ourselves of joy in the “little” we have, we see and we know.

Less Is More

This article was inspired by a Youth and Singles programme which took place in my local church last Friday.

I am privileged to be an executive member of the church youth group. We started a monthly fellowship with great passion and expectations. But somewhere along the line, many of us grew weary due to certain things we couldn't control.

Let God Set Your Agenda - Joyce Meyer

I have been intentionally following Joyce Meyer for a while now. She is one of my spiritual mamas - I listen to her sermons, read her books, stalk her tweets and visit her website whenever and everytime I have the chance to.

Permit me to use her inspiring words to speak to us today. (This is my word in season).

Let God Be God In Your Life

Remember, you made your schedule, and you can change it. Pray about your day, your week, and your life goals to find out what God wants you to do, and what He doesn't want you to do.

Is The Year Half Full Or Half Empty?

Happy New Half-Year sweethearts! July 3rd is the middle of the year. Half of the year is gone, half of the year is still to be. I hope you are fine and in good health.

My church family thought it was all about fashion when I wore a turtleneck piece yesterday. Lol. As I write this, I am battling with cold, cough and conjunctivitis. But I.will.be.fine.

Half Full Or Half Empty

I've always heard about the glass half full, half empty phenomenon. I got intrigued when the idea popped up in my head while in a meeting with the youth executives in my local church. (Hi Johnero!)

I am a worrier by nature but encourager by spiritual gifts. So I know how it feels to be hopeful as well as uncertain.

22.5.17

When You Worry About Living Out God's Plan

Wouldn’t it be awesome to wake up every (Monday) morning and be assured you’re on the right path towards your (God-given) goals? To know with certainty that you’re headed in the right direction?

Too many times I’ve second-guessed a decision I was confident about.

Lord, What Do You Want Me To Do?

On many occasions, I’ve wondered if I was disrupting God’s plan for me. I so don't want to miss it. Ah, I don't.

I know there are so many different things that happen in this life, from the trivial to the most important, where so many different options of action or inaction are open and they all have their pros and cons.

I also know we can never truly know what's going on in God's mind, but can He not want us to have at least some idea of what He wants us to do so that we can do it?

What If You Get Sacked Or Lose Your Job Today? Just Asking

We don't pray for bad things to happen, but they still happen. On our journey to building our career, we need to be prepared for the unexpected. Preparations brings confidence and peace to get through the storm.

6 Things To Do When Sacked

Career Tips

"You are fired" is one of the facts of working life, and it can happen to any of us. We can lose our jobs for a number of reasons. Whatever the reason, if it happens to you, there is no cause for alarm.

10.4.17

Honestly, I Have Been Too Busy For God

Happy New Week! How are you doing? It's time for Bible Study!

Let's not forget that our goal in the PYH series is not merely to increase our knowledge; but to change our lives. One focal point of the Book of Joshua is about winning the battle to inherit the Promised Land.

Submit To God . . . Everything Is A Threat

Two nights before I decided to put this post together, I had a dream. All I can remember about the dream was what a young man said to me after picking me up from . . . I can't remember. I don't know where.

He said, 'Everything is a threat!"

5 Bible Verses to Start the Week

Happy New week! There is no better way to start the week than to have an awesome time in God's word.

5 Bible Verses to Start the Week

Many times, I feel helpless and out of control. I can only turn to the One who gives me hope for living - God. You might struggle with depression, heartache, relationships, office-work and school-related challenges such as assignment deadlines and exams. Through it all, all you need is a word from God.

These verses are very encouraging. . .

20.3.17

You Are Not Yet Ready

God's ways are infinitely higher than ours. We can't beat God. Ever.

Still on the PYH Series . . . Joshua 5.

Prepare To Enter

At this point, it was time to attack the enemy. The Israelites felt ready.

15.3.17

How To Go To Work Every Morning Feeling Refreshed

Nothing drains the energy more than waking up to do the job you do not like. But you know, there is always a way around everything.

Let's talk about getting our lazy selves up in the mornings. Shall we?

Start Refreshed Everyday

The very day I got inspired to write this article, I had a rough start with a BRT bus ticketer that morning. First, I was mad that he showed up long after the bus had arrived. Second, the ticketer refused to sell me a ticket because he didn't have change. Third, the guy who chose to sit beside me wouldn't stop complaining and grumbling about their poor service and management and how bad the country is.

I got to the office already exhausted. I was drained and cranky even before sitting at my desk.

6.3.17

Today Is Much More Important

Hi. Hi. How are you doing? It's Monday! PYH Series gets me excited on Mondays.

This is 3rd chapter (Joshua 3) on the PYH Series. It is a reminder that the past cannot hinder the future.

Prepare For Today

Key Verse:

"And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you."

The best security for the future - success, answered prayers, open doors, breakthroughs etc is today's sanctifying.

Today prepares you for the future.
