What I Wore To Church Today (After Lockdown)

Woo-hoo! Happy Sunday Sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing?! Guess what's back? Going to church is back! 'What-I-Wore to church' is back! And Sunday Style posts are back! I am so. . . excited!

Church After Lockdown

First, let me take off my mask to show you pictures of what I wore to church today.

Your guess is as good as mine; I wore (more than) a touch of Ankara to church this Sunday. Ankara is my happiness plug. (Lol. What does that even mean?). Whatever. I am always happy to wear the most beautiful fabric in the world. Yeah, I said that.

Aside showing you what I wore to church today, I also want to tell you two things about how I feel this moment — going to church after the lockdown.

Kachi and I are a very good churchy couple. We love going to church. We literally go to church EVERY SUNDAY. So, we already started missing church that very week lockdown was declared in Lagos, Nigeria. The first two weeks without going to church, for us, passed like two months. The impact of the closure and subsequent new regulations for places of worship was deeply felt. Still find it hard to believe that we spent thirteen consecutive Sundays without going to church. Whaaat!

Yes, we attended online services. However, online church services are nothing like being physically present amongst the brethren. We even made a video about missing church.

Sweetie, it's a joy and a relief to be able to go to church again. Phew.

The Church is the embassy of Christ on earth, the outpost of His kingdom, the temple of the living God. The church guards and proclaims the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the hope of all the world. At a time of national crisis, a life-threatening pandemic, as all sorts of certainties are questioned and frailties are exposed, the worship of God and the proclamation of the gospel is now more important than What-I-Wore to church.

These are days when going to church is a GREAT privilege and praying for God to grant that we can keep gathering, in public and in person is the real deal.

And of course, we have to match outfits 😉
I went to church last Sunday. I went to church this Sunday. And I hope to go to church next Sunday. Amen.

How about you? Ponder on these questions:

  1. How has the lockdown experience impacted my walk with the Lord?
  2. How has the lockdown experience impacted my relationship with my friends/siblings/parents/spouse?
  3. What areas of my life has God been refining?
  4. What habits have I begun that I want to continue?

Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
~ John 8:12
