21 Days of Praise: Day 15 - The Living Word

Welcome to Day 15 of our #21DaysofPraise series! Today was quite a struggle for me. However, “I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. I will boast of all his kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. Let us praise the Lord together and exalt his name.” Psalm 134:1-3 (TLB).

See how that suits right into the moment. That’s God’s Word for you. It is a living, active force.

Praise for His Word

Today, I celebrate the incredible gift of God's Word. The Bible is not just a book; it is a living, active force that guides, comforts, and transforms us. Through His Word, God speaks directly to our hearts, offering wisdom, encouragement, and truth.

Verse of the Day: Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” — (NIV)

“For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.” — (TPT)

Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without the Bible? Have you ever wondered what your life and hope for the future would be without the Word of God? Why do you study the Bible? And, must you?

I believe that without the Bible, it would be much harder to guide society—both for good and evil. The Bible provides a blueprint for living, sharing morals within a community, and teaching parents what values to pass on to their children. Without it, something else would need to fill that role.

A world without the Bible would be very different. Personally, without the Bible, my life would have been full of worries and tensions.

Growing Like Beautiful Flowers

I’ve never been more intentional about embracing my femininity than I am now as a mum of two adorable girls. While I’ve always been very girly in some special way —my voice, my style, my grace, my walk, my smile...and even my name (Nwamaka meaning Beautiful Baby Girl) —I do not ever want to lose that fundamental core.

“I will bless Nwamaka and her girls, like rain that falls on dry ground. They will grow like beautiful flowers. They will have strong roots, like the great trees in Lebanon. God made this captivating and tantalizing promise first to Israel and He has extended it to me as well. I’m still savouring every bite of this promise; each translation leaves me anticipating more. The Word of God is so yummy. What a delight!

Some are almost bathing with hand sanitizer every minute in order not to take chances at touching their faces with the virus. Everyone is being too careful. It's getting really scary out there.

Bible Verses Against Fear

One of the hardest things about this moment is the uncertainty. Plans that were made months/years ago are now being cancelled, with doubts about rescheduling because everything is so up in the air.

Coast to coast, large public gatherings have been prohibited. Employees have been told to work from home, universities have moved all classes online and primary schools have closed for sanitizing. The stock market has seen meteoric crashes. The naira to dollar exchange rate is becoming more than a nightmare.

As the number of confirmed cases of illness grows, so too does the nation's collective uncertainty. Public anxiety is high, and everyone is trying so hard to curtail fear.

The Fish Is Not The Point

Hiya! I bring us good news! The good news is that we are not alone in our frail, human state. The Bible is full of men and women who, despite their best efforts, suffer from a chronic lack of love and character. One of them is Jonah.

Sometimes We Are Jonah

Over the weekend, I studied the entire book of Jonah. And it brought an illumination to the truth that sometimes we are Jonah. We run, we are swallowed up, and we are spit out.

Sometimes, just like Jonah, when we have so many responsibilities thrust on our shoulders we feel that life is too much to handle. Who wouldn't want to book a cruise, get on a ship, and run away from all the wahala (trouble)?

You've Been Set Free. Walk In Your Freedom

I'd probably read "you are free indeed" in my Bible a hundred times but on one particularly difficult day, I found myself wondering how on earth it could be true. If Jesus had already set me free, then why did I feel so bound up? Why was I still stuck?

And so began my journey to find out what freedom really is, and how I can walk in that reality.

Walk In Your Freedom

I've come to believe that freedom is both a one-time gift and a process. The moment we come to Jesus Christ, He gives us freedom through the Holy Spirit so that we are no longer slaves to sin. But that freedom is something we need to learn to work out walk through.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
– Galatians 5:1

The fact that Apostle Paul wrote this warning not to the world but to the church (Galatians 1:2) and that he used the phrase “again to a yoke” indicates that he knew it was possible for us to become bound. . .bound again.

You Need Some Provocation

I hung out with my creative friends from The Amplify Network last weekend. We celebrated promotions and greater achievements. We shared lessons from where we've been, testimonies about where we are and possibilities for where we are going. It was an inspiring hang out.

One of the things I said I needed accountability on, is starting a talk show. It's been lingering for months.

When Ify asked me what I was waiting for, I said I needed a push. Then she pushed me with her hand. Lol. But I knew what I meant by "push". I knew what I needed.

One of my favourite knowledge of God’s heart is His desire to give us amazing gifts. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” :)

When was the last time you related with God as a little child? When was the last time you approached God as your Heavenly Father? I hope it's not been too long. 

God wants us to see Him as a father. And that is what I am dwelling on this week. Coming to God as a baby girl and telling him everything about every single little thing. Coming to God as a baby girl and asking him for the simplest of things. He likes it! He listens because He loves me!

DIARY: I'm So Lost Without You

Get To Work

People can speak to your ears and possibly even your mind. Only God can speak to your whole being. His ways of communication is literally out of this world. 

His communication can be described in a multitude of ways. Surprising, powerful, unusual, unavoidable, miraculous, necessary, strong, gentle, loving, judgmental, appropriate, wise, perfectly timed, purposeful, sufficient, successful, mysterious, understandable (to the obedient), hidden (from the rebellious), ordinary, extra-ordinary and irreplaceable are just a few words that describe it.

Why Do You Study The Bible? And Must You?

I'm in that season where God questions my motives and intentions. It's not a very interesting one. I feel every form of art I hold dear is gradually slipping away from me. The "why" questions are breaking me.

Why Study The Bible

When I was studying the book of Joshua, I had no intention to share it with anyone. I innocently wanted to personally understand the concept of discovering the promised land, entering into the promised land, and taking over the promised land.

As I began the study, I was totally dazed at the things I was blessed enough to understand. I was thrilled by the new insight. I became excited and thought I couldn't keep them to myself.

Remember The Word Even After Success

Joshua (in chapter 1) had been commanded from the start to meditate on God's word. In Joshua 8, his army had defeated the city of Ai, just as God had predicted. Then came the decision point. Would Joshua celebrate this victory or give glory to God? Here's what we are told,

Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law-the blessings and the curses--just as it is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the aliens who lived among them. - Joshua 8:34-35
