10 Practical Ways To Unlock Your Creativity in 2025

I want you to be able to look in the mirror and feel incredibly proud of the person looking back at you. This is to everyone who is committed to growing, refining their craft, and elevating their art, 2025 promises to be even better for you. Let’s dive into some practical steps to make 2025 your most creative year yet.

Unlock Your Creativity For 2025

Unlock creativity for 2025

There are some things that I did in 2024 that I’ll work on even harder in 2025.

1. Self-Reflection
The first step in creating something remarkable is taking a step back to reflect.

Why it matters:
  • Understand where you are and where you’re coming from.
  • Define where you want to go next.
Self-reflection is your compass—it reveals truths about your journey without sugarcoating them. As I worked on every project, I constantly asked myself:
  • Am I creating work I’m proud of?
  • Is this the path that aligns with my full potential?
These reflections helped me refine my direction and focus.

Meanwhile, AMAKAMEDIA PRODUCTIONS produced her very first movie. Go watch it on YouTube. 😊

2. Outline Your Creative Goals
Your ideas need structure to thrive. Once you’ve reflected, it’s time to turn those thoughts into actionable goals.

Remember:
- Write your goals down. Ideas in your head are just dreams until they’re on paper.
- Set goals that align with your creative vision, not to impress others.
- Include timelines, action plans, and milestones.
- Be honest about your capacity and priorities.

3. Commit to Reading
Reading inspires creativity, expands your imagination, and improves your discipline.

I immersed myself in books about Self-Mastery, Parenting, storytelling, and business. Those books didn’t just inform me—they fired me up in various ways.

Create a reading list for 2025. Include books, articles, and even scripts that challenge and inspire you.

Facilitating at Lagos West Youth Confab: My Preparation and Expectations

There are moments in life when you can clearly see how God has been at work, preparing you for something significant. This opportunity, scheduled for Friday, is more than just an event—it feels like the culmination of a journey God has been guiding me on.

Embracing a God-Ordained Opportunity

Lagos West Youth Confab
Thank you, AG Lagos West District

When I received the invitation to be a facilitator at the Lagos West Youth Confab, themed “ENDORSED,” I felt an overwhelming sense of purpose and divine timing. What a kairos moment. It confirms my declaration for the year:

“Ten years being a blogger is a foundation for God has been preparing me for.”

I was beyond excited about the opportunity. I knew it was about time!!! Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 tells us that there is time for everything, and after a season of growth, we will enter a new season, the season of harvest. Glory!

Preparing for the Workshop:

The topic I’d been entrusted with is ‘Content Creation for the Digital Age,’ a subject that’s incredibly relevant in today’s world. As I’m preparing for this workshop, I can see how each step has been divinely orchestrated. From the experiences I’ve gathered in digital content creation to the insights I’ve gained in mentoring, it’s clear that God has been equipping me for this moment.

And to think that I’m currently leading a 3-week training on content creation with some amazing teenagers is mind-blowing. It feels like every step of my journey has been perfectly timed, equipping me with the tools and insights I need to make a meaningful impact at the confab.

I Woke Up Feeling Like a Failure, and Here's What I Did About It

“Happy New Month, Mummy Kamma,” the woman at my daughter’s school greeted. “Oh, is it already February?” I was surprised that I didn’t figure it out sooner.

The enemy had me on a battle throughout the night. I am not even kidding.

When You Feel like a Failure

We all have dark moments.

There are times when things don’t go according to plan.

Maybe a relationship issue. Maybe the project didn’t fall into place. Or, maybe you didn’t get the promotion. When you fall short of achieving a goal it’s easy to feel let down.

One Dark Moment

Last night was one of my dark moments. And to think that my day was super lit until I checked out LinkedIn few hours before bed. Oh, I wish I didn’t.

I can’t figure out what made me visit that platform but I got stuck in my mind when I started to compare my profile with some other persons’. I started to panic.

Don’t be a Silhouette of Your Authentic Self

Welcome to November! I am really excited about this month. I can’t really point a finger to WHAT exactly I am excited about but I’m very sure that it’s partly because I am growing up and becoming the woman I am called to be. Wow! What a woman I am!

Don’t Become Your Own Best Impersonator

I have been gleaning from a number of inspiring women since the WOWMAN Conference. As in! God has women oh! I see the amazing things He is doing with/through the lives of these women and I’m like, “I want to be in this army!”.

I am currently seeking God’s face to UNDERSTAND the uniqueness and specifications of my design, makeup and purpose. I am seeking clear-cut direction and focus-driven vision. I have a burning desire to step into my season as a woman who is:

ACTIVELY positioned in her unique place of assignment ✔️

POWERFULLY armed with strategic tools for execution  ✔️

AUDACIOUSLY living out authenticity, grace and love ✔️

How To Make Any Year Your Best Year

Happy New Year, Sweethearts of my blogosphere! I know. . . I know I have been MIA on this space quite frequently but it’s really been so fascinating doing things differently. Guys, I have seen GROWTH. And you know how keen I am on growing, changing and all things related, right?

Refresh The New Year

How to have the best shot of the year

This year is not just another “new year” but the first of the blank pages of a whole year waiting for what we will write into our lives, and what growth, changes and greatness we’ll pull from within.

In as much as we would like it to be so, no one can wake up one day a completely changed person. Any meaningful change to your life takes constant effort over a sustained period of time. While the idea of long term change can seem scary, it also means a little bit everyday can take you a long way in forging habits you’ve always wanted to.

Some changes happen because you intentionally worked them out, but some happen without you even knowing. I am yet to decide whether I am more content with the changes I discerned or the ones that forcefully pounce on me. Nevertheless, I have grown to embrace change both in the presence of fear and/or faith. Glory to God!

I love sharing my life with you guys, but sometimes it's hard to be vulnerable. Blessedly, my most vulnerable posts on this blog have been met with the warmest reception. Cheers to authenticity! These are my three goals for the new year:

Your Office Is The Best Place To Prove You're A Christian

Hi again! My name is Amaka and I will be hitting thirty on the 26th day of the coolest month of the year. And I am sharing my lessons from being a 20-something just before my journey into 30s begins.

This post is the 13th lesson. I hope it inspires you in some way. Happy reading!

Christian In The Workplace

Lessons from my 20s

I graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) at 20.

Between turning 20 and turning 29, I have worked with different individuals and organizations across diverse sectors of the media and communications industry.

Broadcast Media — FUTA Radio;
Telecommunications — MTN;
ICT— PM Global Technology Service Ltd;
Digital Media — SBI Media;
Amongst others.

You gotta believe me when I say it's not easy being a Christian in the workplace. Right?

Right!

Navigating Extra Year In A Nigerian University Humbles You

Hi sweets. Welcome to the coolest month of the year! You don't have to argue. June is the coolest month of the year. Say "kool" and then, say "joon". Got you!

I will be hitting the big three-0 on the 26th day of the coolest month. And like I told you last week, I will be sharing lessons from being a 20-something just before my journey into 30s begins.

This is the first lesson. I hope it inspires you in some way. Happy reading!

Extra Year Experience

Navigating extra year in the university

At 20, I was to graduate from the university of Nigeria, Nsukka but I failed two final-year courses that kept me back in school.

I still claim to have graduated at 20 whenever I'm asked because technically speaking. . .yeah?

Nearly all my course mates had graduated and were moving on for NYSC when I found myself in the exam hall with a pen and paper writing ACC411 and ACC401. (Or, was it ACC402? I can't even remember. Lol). I am laughing about it right now but it wasn't funny at 21.

What To Do At Home In This Coronavirus Pandemic And Lockdown Season

Hi Sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing? You've been on my mind since this lock down started so I thought to check in on you today. Are you OK? Are you recreating or reacting in this season? Whatever you do, don't lose hope. God will preserve you and yours throughout this season. Amen.

Get Creative While Social Distancing

Don't let coronavirus take tour Creativity away

I'm all up for a Creative Lifestyle. I see life as an opportunity for self-expression. No matter what happens, I strive to find expression through that.

And I understand that Creative work has seasons. Part of the work is to know which season it is, and act accordingly.

This season is highly conducive for creativity. You can't afford to be bored. And you can't afford to be idle.

An idle mind is disastrous. There are many things you can do, to have fun, to keep your cool, to keep your creative juices flowing, without leaving the house.

This is a good time to get creative. For real.

Driving Little Starts

Weird title, I know. I’m at that point where more people get to ask you whether you can drive. I have friends who can drive, and I’ve definitely heard my closest peeps hinting that I should learn.

So I went to a driving school. 😁

Little Starts

I'm learning how to drive. Like really, d-r-i-v-e. I'm not talking about driving a car with an auto gearbox, but I'm talking about driving a manual car with three pedals: clutch, brake and accelerator (in that order, left to right).

And boy, it's been few weeks on this journey and I'm yet to get a hang of the clutch pedal. It is obviously the thing that makes driving a manual car more difficult than an auto.

The brake and accelerator pedals are pretty simple — press the brake to slow down (the firmer you press it, the quicker you’ll lose speed), while using the accelerator increases the engine’s revs and causes you to speed up (the firmer you press it, the quicker you will speed up). But the clutch? Let's not go into too much detail.

Take The Blame First

Yesterday, I had the privilege of addressing the church about my newly published book, 'He Wasn't My Husband'. And I am not proud to say that I shed tears in front of everyone there!

It's Your Responsibility

I was speaking as the author of 'He Wasn't My Husband' at church — my new church where most people have seen/met/known me for only less than a year, and were relatively still trying to form an opinion about me. Here I was giving them the basis for their opinion of me.

It was a hard thing sharing this path of my journey with them.

I told the church I had dated many guys before I got married.

I told the church that I wanted to be married at 23, so I dated these guys hoping it will lead to marriage.

I told the church that none of the guys I dated became my husband.

I told the church that I was a messed up young woman yet trying to get married at the time.

I told them all these in tears. . .

Well, thank God they didn't laugh at me!

CAREER: Forgive The Boss Who Treated You Wrongly

Ever been treated unfairly by your boss(es)? Same here. I'll tell you all about it.
It's Career-Wednesday!

Forgiving Your Boss

Anyone who has been privileged to have authority over people will agree that it is a difficult task to manage people. Even the admin on a WhatsApp group will admit that it’s difficult to lead people. There are so many things to consider: inspiration, motivation, results, feelings, safety, etc.

No wonder bosses screw it up so bad. No wonder, they get paid more. Maybe so.

I thought of writing out my pain the moment I was given a suspension letter without a fair hearing at the office. I was so hurt. I needed to pour out somewhere. I drafted a post. And when I read the words I'd written, the emotional spill was too raw. I deleted it. Lol.

10.6.18

Fashion As Freedom Of Expression

Happy Sunday! Today's Sunday-Style post was inspired by a case which transpired between Falz, a Nigerian music artiste and MURIC, a Muslim society for having dancers wear hijab in his video. (It's in the news! Read here.)

I personally think it is a case between the freedom of expression and the freedom of religion. Both freedom is inextricably entwined but freedom means different things to different people. 🤔

Anyway let's talk style, shall we?!

Freedom Of Expression Through Style

First of all, how is freedom and style connected?

If

freedom is defined as: the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance.

And

style is defined as: the manner in which something is expressed or performed.

Then we can say

if someone has the freedom to act as they want, this would include being free to express themselves through whatever medium they like. . . through their own sense of style.

5.3.18

Do You Because Nobody Else Can Do Like You Do

Insecurity is a natural part of the human experience. We all have our insecurities. Somehow, it feels comforting to share it with you and to remind you that you are not alone.

Redefine Your Weaknesses

At our local church departmental meeting when Bro Gabriel (yes, I have to mention his real name here 🙈) casually made a remark about me, everyone laughed and it affected me for a minute. I became so uncomfortable that I had to step out of the room in order to avoid any awkward reaction.

19.2.18

You Need Some Provocation

Hi! Thanks for checking out this personal and intimate space. You'll find I share a great deal of my heart here. I have always liked to write and often found it to be therapeutic when facing different life experiences.

This time, it's not easy. I am no longer comfortable just being here.

Provocation Needed

I hung out with my creative friends from The Amplify Network last weekend. We celebrated promotions and greater achievements. We shared lessons from where we've been, testimonies about where we are and possibilities for where we are going. It was an inspiring hang out.

One of the things I said I needed accountability on, is starting a talk show. It's been lingering for months.

When Ify asked me what I was waiting for, I said I needed a push. Then she pushed me with her hand. Lol. But I knew what I meant by "push". I knew what I needed.

PHOTO: What Is Art, Really?

Few minutes ago, I was playing with an app on my phone called 'PicsArt' and viola! this beautiful picture happened! The tag line on this app says "everyone is an artist". So I'm wondering, perhaps we should ask: what is art, really?

What Art Means To Me

I have worked closely with various kinds of artists. As a matter of fact, I work in a creative industry. So I am open to a wide range of art. However, one thing I find common among every artist I have come in contact with, is their emotions and personal experiences. They pour it out like streams of water. It's inspiring HOW they share it.

The Cleansing Tears

I woke up crying – sentimental tears welled up with a lovely piece of music.

Christmas Tears

I cry a lot. It's no longer news that my eyes are teary. Little things make me cry.

And I believe within each of us are reservoirs brimful with tears.

Tears of joy and gratitude. Sentimental tears that well up when our hearts are touched – an inexplicable tears that flow without control.

Tears of frustration and anger. Tears of disappointment and hurt. Then the sobering choking tears of grief.

How To Sell Yourself In 2 Minutes

It's Career-Wednesday! Imagine yourself in an elevator standing next to the biggest fish in your industry. Maybe it’s the chairman of your dream company, or a top class client you wish to have. And all you have is two minutes to make a strong impression about your strengths, your business or your company, what do you say?

Create An Elevator Pitch

This is the second time I would be attending an event where the speaker would select somebody and ask them to sell themselves in two minutes. See first time here

I got home, faced the mirror, and attempted to sell myself to myself. After about 30 minutes, I still wouldn't even buy myself.

Do You Know How Much Your Dreams Would Cost You?

Sometimes Jesus can beat around the bush, and at other times He hits you deep in your heart with a 2 x4 sword through His parables. I've been a bit uncomfortable lately . . .

Count The Cost

Today's message is to encourage you to keep to your assignments and dreams and FINISH what you started despite oppositions, fears and barriers.

Key word here is: FINISH
