Don't Quit Your 9-5 Job Until You Feel It In Your Gut

Happy New Week! Having the same opening paragraph over and over might seem boring to you. Permit to use to say it one more time. Thank you. 

Hi. My name is Amaka. I will be 30 on the 26th day of the coolest month of the year. You didn't know June is the coolest month? I have been sharing my lessons from being a 20-something right at the start of June.

Overcome Your Fear Of Change

I’ll let you in on a little secret.

In my 20s, I quit my job twice.

It was a scary thing for me to do at both times.

The first time I quit my job (which lasted for two years), I was not financially prepared. The only thing that kept me going was the fact that I still lived with my parents at the time, which artificially deflated my cost of living (while simultaneously increasing theirs).

It wasn't an easy time but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Dear Diary, The Thieves Couldn't Shake It Off

I Live For Jesus

I feel the world pulling you away from your beliefs, and there are more distractions and temptations than ever before. But there’s hope if you put Jesus at the center of your life. And live for him.

You know I had tried to live for Jesus in my own strength, right? But it was exhausting and discouraging. Until I began relying on the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ life became free to flow through me. Now, I have what my heart longed for most — an intimate relationship with God.

I find that the nearer I draw close to God and come to know Him more, the greater His desires naturally become mine. Obedience to His will becomes easier. His instructions become a priority.

Dear Diary, I Am Standing In Awe

I woke up singing the chorus, "I stand, I stand in awe of you" by Hillsong Music. I sang it all through my journey to the office. When I got to the office, I looked for the song on SoundCloud and got my earphones on. I am literally standing in awe of God in this very season of my life.

Every song that refers to God as "awesome" is currently my fave. I'm searching for as many as I can lay my hands on. I am singing them all to God. Yeah. Yeah.

How do I even begin to describe how awesome God is. . .?

Ah, how do I start?

I am so loving this genuine sense of wonder I am having of God right now.

Lord, You are awesome.

To even say the word "awesome" stirs up a sweet sensation in my heart. I can feel power in the pit of my stomach when I say, "awesome." I sense something rises up inside of me and makes me want to fly.

The Most Important Decision

Oh, wow! 2018 is starting up on a Monday. It's a New Week! A New Month! A New Year! What better time to have a new beginning if we want to?!?

There are risks that go with decision making, and risks are too hard for those of us who think too much. We weigh things too much. But a decision has got to be made!

Make A Decision Already!

The really important decisions, unfortunately, have to be made without certainty. If we get married, we do it without certainty that we are making the right decision. If we have children, we have them without knowing how they will turn out. If we decide to be Christians, we do it on faith. And these decisions are sometimes infused with fighting the feeling of whether we are deceiving or hurting ourselves.

Don't be like "eww! She's so carnal!". Sexy is a spiritual word. Get over it. Lol. Yes, I am using the S-word this month. The Bible is filled with sex and romance. Go read Songs of Solomon before you argue.

It's Friday! If I'd created a podcast today, I'd have voiced out a few prayers for this month. This is my season of fruitfulness! I know it in my spirit!

What I've been dealing with and what I've been feeling from God is that He wants to destroy unfruitfulness and barrenness and wants to make this a fruitful month (and a fruitful year generally).

2015 will be ending in two days. I believe we are all taking stock of how the year has been. Let's review our relationships too. Ask God to help you identify those relationships that are/will not be helpful to your life.

Let Go

God's been reminding me about some of the prayers I prayed in 2015, and how He's answered them. I have been on thanksgiving mode since Sunday. One of the prayers was to be surrounded by people who will lead me towards God and purpose, those who will make me proud to be a "good girl". I see His answers everywhere.
