5 Things I’m Loving About This Pregnancy Glow

It’s often said that every pregnancy is different, and from my experience, that’s absolutely true. I’m not sure I glowed as much during my previous pregnancies (though some people claimed I did), but this time, I’m glowinggggggg—I can see it and feel it! Hallelujah!!!

A Different Pregnancy Glow

Pregnancy Glow_amakamedia

Pregnancy glow is the vibrant, radiant, fresh look that many women show on their faces while pregnant. For me, this pregnancy is the most beautiful thing. I feel like I’m not just growing a baby—I’m also glowing in every possible way. It’s been such a joy to experience this unique blend of physical changes, emotional highs, and spiritual blessings that make me feel radiant. So today, I’m unapologetically showing off and sharing five things I’m absolutely loving about this pregnancy glow!

1. My Skin is Doing the Most

There’s something about the way pregnancy hormones work their magic! My skin feels smoother, softer, and yes, brighter. It’s like the angels decided to sprinkle a little extra oil on me. I catch myself in the mirror sometimes and think, “Who is this glowing beauty?!” Whether it’s the natural flush or just the glow that comes with carrying life, I’m soaking in every compliment like the queen I am!

How to Be Lovely and Stylish (A Very Quick Guide)

Hi Lovelies. How are you doing? I know… This was meant to be a Sunday-Style post but some other responsibilities have had the best of me in the past few days. It’s better late than never, isn’t it? šŸ˜‰

Style + Lovely = Stylish Loveliness

Stylish loveliness
šŸ˜

I have a gist for you but let’s get straight into today’s post.

What does it mean to be Lovely?

adj. love·li·er, love·li·est
  1. Full of love; loving.
  2. Inspiring love or affection.
  3. Having beauty that appeals to the emotions as well as to the eye.
  4. Enjoyable; delightful.
n. pl. love·lies
  1. A beautiful person, especially a woman.
  2. A lovely object. Dictionary source
I love these definitions.

Every Christian, young or old, should be lovely. The question is, are you lovely? Would the people in your life say, "Wow, she's a lovely person." I thought I'd share the above definition of the word lovely because it really captures what I believe a lovely person should be - full of love, inspiring, having appealing beauty (both inside and out), enjoyable and delightful.

The work of loveliness ultimately starts from within and, among many other things, is revealed in the following ways:
  1. The way you style yourself
  2. The way you speak
  3. The way you carry yourself
Hold that thought while I show you what we wore to church last Sunday. By we I mean, my lovely family and I.

STYLE: The Year has been Lighted

Happy First Sunday of the Year! I hope you went to church today, whether physically or online? If you didn’t, it is well with you. However, if you did, what did you wear?

Yes, I am interested in knowing what you wore to church? Let me know.

2024 is LIGHT-ED

I am almost accustomed to starting my posts with “I don’t know where this post is headed but…” So I do not want to start like that on this one. Here is what I am going to do instead:

I am going to share highlights of today’s sermon, ‘Walking in the Light,’ with you while showing you pictures of what I wore to church today. Meanwhile, I worshipped at the Teens church today, and it was truly an uplifting service.

STYLE: Embrace Femininity with Blue

Why is pink often linked to girls and blue to boys? Ever pondered this? Just considered it today and was super surprised by my findings. Huh!

Happy Style-Sunday!

Let Girls Wear Blue

Happy International Girl Child week

Can you remember the day somebody else was wearing the same outfit as you? There was probably a time when you were out at an event, or at work, or the mall, or at school, or in the church and you suddenly noticed that someone was wearing an item identical to what you were wearing. Maybe the same dress, jacket, shoes, t-shirt . . . etc.

How do you react to such wonderful moments? For me, I ALWAYS acknowledge and appreciate them. I can also take it two steps further to create a style post out of it.

I have reacted a couple of times (see here and here) and I'm doing it again. It feels so good!

STYLE: Mummy and Daughter In Ankara Skirt

Last week, I told you I’d be sharing more pictures of me and my girl(s) matching. Yeah? That’s just what today’s post is all about.

I love to match with my girls.

No doubt, having a baby is one of the biggest
joys of life, one that is beyond words. However,
there are plenty of reasons to rejoice in having a
baby girl(s)! There is something very different
about playing dress-up with your little girl. The
beautiful dresses, the varied patterns, the
cheery colours, the accessories, it just never
ends.

STYLE: I Can’t Wait To Start Matching Outfits With My Daughter(s)

Trends come and go in fashion, but some trends seem to stay forever. One of those styles that have been around for several years now is “twinning”, or like I prefer to call it, “matching” — simply wearing outfits of the same colour/fabric/style combinations with two or more people at the same time in the same location. This can be applied to friends, siblings, lovers, and family members.

I loovvvvveeeet!

Mummy and Daughter Matching Outfits

Matching outfits is my thing. It’s so much fun to do. It gets my creative juice flowing. It takes a lot of time sometimes, but hey, the positive feeling it gives outweighs the cons. Amongst other things, I believe it fosters the feeling of closeness and intimacy.

As a Christian single lady, I matched outfits with my mum, brothers, friends, colleagues, and even strangers (coincidentally, lol).

Then I got married, I haven’t stopped matching with my husband ever since!

Now, I’m a mother of two girls, tell me, what do you expect? To keep matching, of course! Haha!

What I Wore To Church Today (After Lockdown)

Woo-hoo! Happy Sunday Sweethearts of my blogosphere! How are you doing?! Guess what's back? Going to church is back! 'What-I-Wore to church' is back! And Sunday Style posts are back! I am so. . . excited!

Church After Lockdown

First, let me take off my mask to show you pictures of what I wore to church today.

Your guess is as good as mine; I wore (more than) a touch of Ankara to church this Sunday. Ankara is my happiness plug. (Lol. What does that even mean?). Whatever. I am always happy to wear the most beautiful fabric in the world. Yeah, I said that.

What I Wore: Sneakers With Ankara

So he asked me yesterday, "babe, what are we going to wear to Church tomorrow?" "I don't know. I think I'm going to wear those sneakers you got for me." And it happened.

Happy Sunday!

Ankara And Sneakers

WIW: Ankara and sneakers

You all know your girl loves loves loves Ankara fabric. And that love is not dying anytime soon. I planned to wear some of that to church today with the new pair of sneakers Kachi got for me.

I personally like to rock sneakers with pencil skirts, shirt dresses, flared skirts and chambray dresses.

The first rule for me was: Don’t let it be too casual or too short. We are trying to praise the Lord not raise curiousity! Amen?

What I Wore: Long Ankara Jacket On Straight-Cut Ankara Skirt

Happy Style-Sunday! Today is the last Sunday in October. How has the month been for you? For me, October started slow but it's ending in a rush. So much is happening at the same time. I'm staying thankful.

Here's what I wore to church today.

Ankara Jacket

Ankara bumper jackets, kimono jackets, blazers, just name them. You can’t go wrong with them. And you can rock them with skirts, jeans, shorts/bumshorts, pencil skirts or short skirts. They are valuable pieces to have in your wardrobe.

I have had this piece since 2016. As I write this post, I vividly remember where, how and why I got this piece as well as what happened the first day I  wore it. It's interesting how your clothes can cause you to 'play back' certain past experience and the feeling associated with them.

STYLE: Gangster In Action

Yo! Happy Style-Sunday! What's up? What's poppin'? What's goin' on? Picture me saying all that with two fingers up in the air while rocking this look. Lol. We've got a gangster in the building. Yo!

Gangster For Christ

Right. There are a hundred and one negative definitions of who a gangster is, but who says you have to choose any of those? I am particularly thrilled by how Urban dictionary carefully defines it:

A GangstaforChrist is someone who has, and will endure anything to bring light into the darkness, and bring christ (to) the lost.

Look at that! Just look at that!

My!

I know I am a straight up G. I am a woman on the move for God. Nothing is going to get on my way, I mean nothing. Nothing is going to stop me from giving out light. Nothing is going to stop Heart Rays. Nothing!

More Than A Yellow Ankara Dress

Yellow is one my favourite colours. It's pretty difficult to argue that yellow is particularly peaceful or neutral, but for me it is vibrant, joyful; the colour of positivity and creativity.

Paint The World Yellow

As I always say, the clothes you wear are talking even when you are not. Every time you select a colour to wear you are making a statement of how you are feeling and how you want others to interact with you. So, it is recommended that you ensure your wardrobe is full of every colour for your every mood.

STYLE: One Unexpected Thing That Makes Your Outfit Shine

Boom, pop! Ghen-ghen! oh, wow! If those are what you want people to say when they see your final put-together outfit, then this is the shoe colour for you.

Red Shoes Popping

You know those days when it feels like you are wearing the same outfits over and over again, and it just gets a bit boring, huh? Try playing with colours!

The tip on adding that “pop” is to keep the majority of things subtle and pick one or two areas to make a bold statement. It's often the little things that make a big difference, and a pop of colour can have a HUGE impact on your outfit.

STYLE: The Vibes Of Black With Red

There is power in colours. The emotions tied into the colours of clothes we wear are what give the colours their power and meaning. The important question is now: am I giving off the right 'vibe?' Am I wearing the right colours that suit me and my personality?

Black With Red Vibes

I find the field of Colour Science quite fascinating, especially since it's not a huge one (researching my post on 'how colours affect your mood' was way playful than I'd thought it would be). After connecting with my clothes to find out how they affect my mood, I knew I had a very exciting ingredient to add to my Style Statement.
