Facilitating at Lagos West Youth Confab: My Preparation and Expectations

There are moments in life when you can clearly see how God has been at work, preparing you for something significant. This opportunity, scheduled for Friday, is more than just an event—it feels like the culmination of a journey God has been guiding me on.

Embracing a God-Ordained Opportunity

Lagos West Youth Confab
Thank you, AG Lagos West District

When I received the invitation to be a facilitator at the Lagos West Youth Confab, themed “ENDORSED,” I felt an overwhelming sense of purpose and divine timing. What a kairos moment. It confirms my declaration for the year:

“Ten years being a blogger is a foundation for God has been preparing me for.”

I was beyond excited about the opportunity. I knew it was about time!!! Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 tells us that there is time for everything, and after a season of growth, we will enter a new season, the season of harvest. Glory!

Preparing for the Workshop:

The topic I’d been entrusted with is ‘Content Creation for the Digital Age,’ a subject that’s incredibly relevant in today’s world. As I’m preparing for this workshop, I can see how each step has been divinely orchestrated. From the experiences I’ve gathered in digital content creation to the insights I’ve gained in mentoring, it’s clear that God has been equipping me for this moment.

And to think that I’m currently leading a 3-week training on content creation with some amazing teenagers is mind-blowing. It feels like every step of my journey has been perfectly timed, equipping me with the tools and insights I need to make a meaningful impact at the confab.

Never Ever Write “My Husband Said” In A Professional Email

If you are reading this paragraph right now, just start laughing at me already. Just laugh. I didn’t know how funny the mail sounded until those who heard it started laughing about it. Lmho.

Avoid Personal Reference In An Official Email

If you have been an ardent follower of Heart Rays, then you’d know that I share from real life experiences. I make it so raw that you can almost feel the emotions pouring onto the page. Yeah, I get that feedback from my readers A LOT. However, today is not going to be so emotional because I just want to get it over with. It’s 23:47 and I need to go to bed because I have to host a virtual brainstorming session with my team tomorrow morning.

So, here’s the gist: Nigeria just concluded her gubernatorial election which brought a lot of tension in my local area due to tribal conflicts and electoral violence. It felt unsafe going to work today (Monday). My husband vehemently insisted that I stay back home with the girls as well.

So I sent a mail to the HR stating that “my husband said...”.

Please, laugh at me.

I don’t even know what I was thinking!

Don’t be like me. Here are some reasons why you should AVOID using personal references in your professional emails:

1. It undermines your Credibility

When you're communicating in a professional setting, it's essential to maintain impartiality and avoid introducing personal biases or opinions into the conversation. Relying on someone else's opinion or authority in a professional setting suggests that you're not confident in your own knowledge or ability to make decisions. This can undermine your credibility in the workplace.

"Increase Your Value" — Mr. Rotimi Bankole

I hope you find this read worth while. From my experience relating with Clients, I have come to perceive how clients think and how we as a creative/media agency can have more value in return.

5 Ways To Increase Our Value

1. Design Quality: We should be serving high quality design. How do your office look? As a practitioner, how do you look like? Do you smell nice. How about your work, your presentation, your write ups? Having a good design is just part of the puzzle. He cares for more . . .

2. Service Quality: A client doesn't know how or where your design, idea, office is etc To our Client, we are a service provider. In a restaurant, a bad service can ruin the whole meal. So, every interaction you have with client, your emails, phone-dash-calls, meetings, even the coffee is part of what he is paying you for. Make your service unforgettable, then you can charge more.

What's Next

Hi. Hi. Long time, no blog. How is everyone doing? I hope you are enjoying the holiday.

What's Next

I'd like to rock my natural African kinky comb-breaking hair for Christmas. I gave it a good treat today! But I'm scared at how it is turning out. It seems my hair does not want me to shine this season.

Here Is A Quick Midnight Reflection On Instagram

Like many other nights, sleep eluded me. After praying for as long as I could manage, I switched on my data. And logged on into Instagram as though the angels were using my pretty long fingers.

Instagram, Really?

I am not such a big fan of Instagram. I often spend less than an hour on the days I decide to log in on the app.

The last time I spent over an hour, I made a mess of myself with makeup. :/

Your Voice Is A Signature

Here is a general reply to an email I got. I see many people want to try this voicing stuff too. So here I am sharing the little things I've learnt so far.

Find Your Voice

Each time I'm asked questions about being a voice-over artist, I get a bit worried. Lol. My worry is based on two thoughts - Am I taking advantage of my voice or is my voice taking advantage of me already?
