Happy New Year! We made it! Yay! What are your goals for the year? Whatever they are, be sure to find these tips very helpful.

30 Tips For Winning Goals in 2025

Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gift and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you give them, they value the gift a lot.

#2
Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.

#3
Make new positive friends as often as possible and ensure you keep the communication line open. Create a network of friends and not just connections.

21 Days of Praise: Day 13 - Each New Season

Welcome to a brand new week! It’s Day 13 of our #21DaysofPraise series! Today, we praise God for new beginnings and the fresh starts that He grants us. In His infinite wisdom and love, God constantly opens doors for new opportunities and experiences in our lives.

Praise for New Beginnings

Nwamaka Onyekachi
Each birthday is a celebration of a new beginning!

I am so grateful that we have a God who is always there to give us hope and encouragement, constantly offering us a fresh new day, week, year, and, most of all, a new life. We are so blessed to have a God that is a God of new beginnings.

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — (NIV)

“Stop dwelling on the past. Don’t even remember these former things. I am doing something brand new, something unheard of. Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Don’t you perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and open up flowing streams in the desert.” — (TPT)
Every day is a new beginning. You don’t have to look far to recognize new beginnings in day-to-day living. We recharge our phone, use the redo/undo an option on our device frequently, replace a broken plug to give an appliance a second life, retrace our steps to find a lost item, reconnect with a friend or family member, and rethink a question from a new perspective. We watch our bodies regenerate broken nails and bones, heal bruises and scar, and even regrow to fix that bad hair. 😉

Appearing in Light and Glamour

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to 2024! You made it! You are still standing strong.

Year of Showing

I would love to go straight into word declaration for 2024, but I think it’s wise to share a glimpse of my review for 2023

I have consciously and consistently created the system of defining my year with a word or a phrase as I receive divine blueprint throughout the year. From ‘Basking in Glory' to 'Prepare Your Heart', to 'Decide To Decide', etc., my journey has been incredibly beautiful to behold.

However, last year took me by surprise. When I declared “New Hair, New Me,” I limited my definition and understanding to SELF-CARE. I assumed God was telling me that my port-partum hair breakage was going to stop and I will dwell and bask in pampering myself and all things associated with getting my natural hair back.

Lol. Jesus Iye!!!

2023 took a TOTALLY DIFFERENT turn. Yes, you could say it was a year for self-care but it was actually self-care pro max-max!!!

New Job Jitters? A Guide to Navigating Your First Day with Confidence and Success

I recently read an article I wrote that was titled "The First Day At A New Job", and I couldn't help smiling. Little Amaka has grown into a Senior Executive in the PR/Media Industry. Lol. Yeah, I’m back to full-time employment. :)

How To Survive Your First Day At A New Job

Starting a new job can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. As you prepare to enter a new working environment, you may feel uncertain about what to expect and how to navigate your new role. But don't worry - with the right mindset and approach, you can make your first day at a new job a success.

As someone who has been through this experience before, I have some advice for those of you who may be starting a new job soon. Here are some tips to help you survive your first day at a new job:

1. Come with an open mind

One of the most important things you can do on your first day at a new job is to come with an open mind. Be willing to learn, to ask questions, and to take on new challenges. Remember that you are there to grow and develop in your career, and that will require a willingness to be open to new ideas and ways of doing things.

New Hair, New Me

Welcome to a brand new blog post written by a blogger wearing a brand new hair in a brand new Year! Yipeee!

Happy New Hair

New hair, new me

Riding through the waves of last year was as one would say. . .very chaotic but I made it through the storm. I welcomed a lot of big changes and one of them was to birth another human being and I am super grateful that I did! Glory to God!

It was 4 weeks following the birth of my daughter. I brushed my hair and was quite shocked to see a large amount of hair attached to the bristles of my brush.

I had been forewarned about it, but this was worse than I imagined. By ‘it’, I mean postpartum hair loss.

How To Make Any Year Your Best Year

Happy New Year, Sweethearts of my blogosphere! I know. . . I know I have been MIA on this space quite frequently but it’s really been so fascinating doing things differently. Guys, I have seen GROWTH. And you know how keen I am on growing, changing and all things related, right?

Refresh The New Year

How to have the best shot of the year

This year is not just another “new year” but the first of the blank pages of a whole year waiting for what we will write into our lives, and what growth, changes and greatness we’ll pull from within.

In as much as we would like it to be so, no one can wake up one day a completely changed person. Any meaningful change to your life takes constant effort over a sustained period of time. While the idea of long term change can seem scary, it also means a little bit everyday can take you a long way in forging habits you’ve always wanted to.

Some changes happen because you intentionally worked them out, but some happen without you even knowing. I am yet to decide whether I am more content with the changes I discerned or the ones that forcefully pounce on me. Nevertheless, I have grown to embrace change both in the presence of fear and/or faith. Glory to God!

I love sharing my life with you guys, but sometimes it's hard to be vulnerable. Blessedly, my most vulnerable posts on this blog have been met with the warmest reception. Cheers to authenticity! These are my three goals for the new year:

Don't Quit Your 9-5 Job Until You Feel It In Your Gut

Happy New Week! Having the same opening paragraph over and over might seem boring to you. Permit to use to say it one more time. Thank you.

Hi. My name is Amaka. I will be 30 on the 26th day of the coolest month of the year. You didn't know June is the coolest month? I have been sharing my lessons from being a 20-something right at the start of June.

This post is the eleventh. I hope it inspires you in some way. Happy reading!

Overcome Your Fear Of Change

Overcome fear

I’ll let you in on a little secret.

In my 20s, I quit my job twice.

It was a scary thing for me to do at both times.

The first time I quit my job (which lasted for two years), I was not financially prepared. The only thing that kept me going was the fact that I still lived with my parents at the time, which artificially deflated my cost of living (while simultaneously increasing theirs).

It wasn't an easy time but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Driving Little Starts

Weird title, I know. I’m at that point where more people get to ask you whether you can drive. I have friends who can drive, and I’ve definitely heard my closest peeps hinting that I should learn.

So I went to a driving school. 😁

Little Starts

I'm learning how to drive. Like really, d-r-i-v-e. I'm not talking about driving a car with an auto gearbox, but I'm talking about driving a manual car with three pedals: clutch, brake and accelerator (in that order, left to right).

And boy, it's been few weeks on this journey and I'm yet to get a hang of the clutch pedal. It is obviously the thing that makes driving a manual car more difficult than an auto.

The brake and accelerator pedals are pretty simple — press the brake to slow down (the firmer you press it, the quicker you’ll lose speed), while using the accelerator increases the engine’s revs and causes you to speed up (the firmer you press it, the quicker you will speed up). But the clutch? Let's not go into too much detail.

CAREER: Why I Quit My Job Again

The first time I quit my job I was single, living with my parents and had no plan whatsoever. Do I regret it? Absolutely not! It was one of the most amazing (overwhelming, frustrating, exciting, scary) years of my life.

Then I found a new job. Got married, started building a home and quit my job again. What's up with me?

The Benefit Of Quitting Your Job

It's the last quarter of the year. While some are getting into new jobs and promotions, others are looking forward to finding better ones before the year ends.

And here, someone is talking about quitting her job?! Whaaat?! Who does that?!

In case we have never met, and you are wondering who this woman is and how she has the guts to go about getting a job and quitting, and not only that, but also having the guts to tell you there are benefits of quitting your job. Calm down, please.

Let me tell you something first:

1.1.18

The Most Important Decision

Oh, wow! 2018 is starting up on a Monday. It's a New Week! A New Month! A New Year! What better time to have a new beginning if we want to?!?

There are risks that go with decision making, and risks are too hard for those of us who think too much. We weigh things too much. But a decision has got to be made!

Make A Decision Already!

The really important decisions, unfortunately, have to be made without certainty. If we get married, we do it without certainty that we are making the right decision. If we have children, we have them without knowing how they will turn out. If we decide to be Christians, we do it on faith. And these decisions are sometimes infused with fighting the feeling of whether we are deceiving or hurting ourselves.

DIARY: When November Brings New Memories

If someone asked you what was so special about November, what would you say? I think it can be so hard to remember specific days and events when every day goes by in a flash, right?

I decided to keep track of the month of November with a few sentences and some pictures.

Memories From November 2017
~November To Remember~

1/11 - My phone mistakenly falls off from a three-storey building while trying to place it on a surface after self-timing it to take a shot. . . Two things that blew my mind is that NOTHING happened to my phone and that it went ahead to snap me before hitting the floor. "November looks good already" I thought.

May Peace Fill Your Heart

Remember peace is a gift from God and we must learn to defend it relentlessly everyday. Bible tells us, “Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the Devil” (Ephesians 6:11). There are so many events on a daily basis that will try and steal your peace. Stay guarded!

Rays Of Peace

I believe in the power of words. As a copywriter, I have learned to decree a creative word for each new month. I find that doing this helps me work productively and live consciously, as everything tends to manifest towards the declaration of the Word—from creating content to dressing up to living the moment. I have seen the Word become flesh.

Happy WHOLEtober!

Hi sweetheart. How have you been? I fell sick, went to the hospital and was discharged at 8PM yesterday. God's mercy didn't let me step into October while at the hospital. Hallelujah!

Be Whole Again

It's Sunday. It's October - the first day of the month. It's Nigeria's 57th Independence Day celebration. So much to be thankful for.

What are you specially thankful for today?

I'm specially thankful that I am not on the hospital bed right now.

29.7.17

"It Will End Up Better Than It Started"

Reading aloud during our Family Devotion this morning as my day led us through his 'The Daily Guide Devotional', I strongly perceived the Holy Spirit speaking directly to me. Can I save it here?

Get To Work

People can speak to your ears and possibly even your mind. Only God can speak to your whole being. His ways of communication is literally out of this world.

His communication can be described in a multitude of ways. Surprising, powerful, unusual, unavoidable, miraculous, necessary, strong, gentle, loving, judgmental, appropriate, wise, perfectly timed, purposeful, sufficient, successful, mysterious, understandable (to the obedient), hidden (from the rebellious), ordinary, extra-ordinary and irreplaceable are just a few words that describe it.

27.6.17

Dear Diary, This Is All I Want

I was planning to post about how my birthday went, but I feel prompted to share something else.

Dear Diary
26/06/2017
00:00AM
~ All I Want ~

I am happy. I am at peace with God. I am at peace with myself.

For the first time in my life, I don't want a birthday cake, gift of shoes and those things I have considered fanciful.

27.12.16

Dear Diary, The Testimony Is Like This

There is no better way to wrap up Dear Diary for the year than the performance of the very Word of God. It is so obvious that God sees the end from the beginning. I'm awed!

Word Made Flesh

And when I cried unto the Lord God of my fathers
The Lord heard my voice
and looked on my affliction
my labour
my oppression

17.11.16

Gosh! I Hate Meetings

Meetings are one of the biggest time wasters ever. I've attended a couple of meetings over the past week and thought to myself "So, what did we achieve with this?"

Meetings Suck

I was asked to design an e-flier with respect to a meeting that is scheduled for Sunday. While at it, I remembered the previous meeting I attended . . .

8.2.16

Experience Newness In Your Character

Happy new week, sweethearts! New things are just springing forth here and there. Can you see them? :)

New Character

It's a new week. We all need to get fired up to start the week. And God's word is the best source of inspiration for empowerment, guidance for help and motivation for improvement. We can't have it any other way.

1.2.16

It's Time For The "NEW" To Spring Forth

Hey, sweetie! Happy New Month! Happy New Week! Happy New Day! Happy Newness! It's time to make room for the "new".

Experiencing Newness

God seems to be a lot more interested in our heart - our character this season. First, it was about taking the journey of self-discovery. Thereafter, it was knowing who exactly we are becoming, and now it is experiencing newness.

13.8.15

People Resist Change for Fear of the Unknown

I'd say change is like waking up in the morning. We all enjoy sleeping, but respond differently to waking up. There are those who stretch their bodies and get going immediately. There are those who sleep a little more before getting up. And there are those who just stay right in bed. Which group do you belong?

Resisting Change
Embracing Change

Change means waking up from your slumber and abandoning your comfortable bed. It's like stretching your body, getting up and making a cup of coffee (or if you're like me, taking a dose of positive confessions) to kick start the day.
