Married For 5 Years! That’s 1,826 days of Being a Wife!

Today marks my five-year wedding anniversary with Kachi! I remember being on my honeymoon, thinking that milestones like 5, 10, and 15 years were so far away. Yet, here we are celebrating five wonderful years together. My heart is full of thanksgiving.

5 Years In Marriage

I have really come a long way - from crying over heartbreaks upon heartbreaks to being able to get through a difficult season and now, being married to Kachi. Can you believe it’s already 5 years? Wow!

To be honest, I do not know where this article is headed. My heart is so full. I’ve been in a reflective state for the past week, and I am in awe of how my life has become so much better every passing day. God has faithfully kept His word; He has never failed me yet.

Have you ever looked back on your life and just cry happy tears? That’s me right now. It’s feels like I’m looking back at my younger self, giving her a wink, and telling her I’m happy she’s having fun.

Five years may not seem that long, but our marriage has already evolved multiple times. Kachi and I are already different people than we were back in 2018 (and especially different from the people we were when we met in 2007!)

8 Unusual Tips For The Perfect Honeymoon

The Monday following our Wedding, my husband and I left Lagos, Nigeria (the bubbly city where we live) to celebrate our wedded bliss. It was the trip of a lifetime — the first long, exotic trip we'd ever taken alone together.

With great pleasure I am going to give you insider tips for planning a great honeymoon vacation without going in debt.

Perfect Honeymoon Tips

You just got married! Now what? Go on your most-deserved post wedding vacation. The honeymoon will allow you some much needed time to rest, recoup and process what just happened.

Don’t conform to what you think a honeymoon should be – take time to really consider what makes you happy and what you really want to see or do while away. Just because somebody else’s honeymoon was perfect for them, doesn’t mean it will be perfect for you. Go gently.

These are my top seven tips to guide you on discovering what's perfect for you:

#1
Be Specific About What You Want

Talk with your beloved about what your vision is for the honeymoon, and ask your beloved to share theirs. What are your top three priorities? Spa, gym and sports? Or cultural sights and traditional cuisine? Or tour sites and travel rides? Beaches and waterfalls? Two of you should make a list —and highlight the similarities. Your top choices should be reflected in the destination you choose.

Even though I had a memorable wedding ceremony, I wanted a more memorable honeymoon. M-E-M-O-R-A-B-L-E was our keyword, so we went all out for that.

Dear Diary, I'm One Month Married!

Life has changed. Significantly changed. I wanted to settle into newlywed life and find a balance between enjoying every minute with Kachi and working a 9-5 before heading back to the blog. But happily for you, he loves when I write and is my biggest encourager. So here I am writing how I feel about being married for a month.

One Month In

Have you ever stopped to think just how much can happen in one week, one month. . . one year?

Sometimes it still doesn’t feel real. I’m a wife. I have a husband. Just how?

By this time last year, I was as single as a slice of bread, still living in my parent's house, copywriting full-time and keeping fairly busy. Now just a year later, I have been married for one month, marveling at all the many (and wonderful) changes that took place in just one year. A courtship, an engagement, a wedding, and now. . . I’m a happy wife. Wow.

Life After "Honeymoon"

We have just had the most beautiful honeymoon vacation ever. As we walked into the living room, reality hit me. I cried. And cried some more. This is a house. Not a home yet. How do I make it a home? When will I start feeling at home here? Suddenly, I started to miss my mum, my dad and my two brothers.

I cried. . .

After Honeymoon

Maybe post-wedding blues are totally normal. Maybe this feeling is expected. After all the excitement of the wedding and honeymoon, it’s natural to feel a dip in mood.

I couldn't explain my flowing tears that night. I was just. . . down. Series of thoughts ran through my mind;

how can I stay excited in this marriage?
how can I continue to have adventures with my husband?
how can I be a great wife?
how do I start building a home?
how.  . .???
just how???

Why Do People Have Pre-wedding Photo Shoot?

Hi sweeties. It's Love-Wednesday! This is the topic that landed on my fingers today. Yeah, pre-wedding photo shoot đŸ™ˆ

Pre-wedding shoot is a photo shoot that usually takes place three to six months prior to the wedding day. Do you think they are neccessary?

Pre-Wedding Pictures Ideas

I posted the above picture on my Whatsapp status with the caption "pre-wedding shoot". Oh my God, the reaction was unbelievable.

The congratulatory message almost got me teary. It is amazing to know that my friends and family would love to see me getting married. Lol.

What an expensive joke. Jeez.

STYLE: Colourless Wedding Guest Outfit

Hi sweeties! How are you doing? It's the month of June! Welcome to a brand new month. My birth month. Yippee!

What do you do when you don't know what to wear to a wedding? Finding the perfect wedding guest outfit may seem easy, but sometimes it is not. It's either because you can’t find a style that works for you, a colour that matches the day or because you have a dress in your head but can’t find it your wardrobe.

Here is what I did đŸ˜‰

Colourless At Wedding

At every wedding I get to attend where I am not on the bridal train or among the asoebi friends, I find it pretty difficult to pick out what to wear.

When I think about what I'm going to wear to a wedding, I almost instantly think about the type of dress, but also the colour. Yes, the colour. Very important.

For you too, right?

How Do You Deal With The Fact That Your Close Friend Is Getting Married Before You?

It's Love-Wednesday! I want to share with you these two things that normally help me and banish whatever jealousy if I had any.

Close Friend Gets Married Before You

Watching all your friends get married while you remain single is like watching all your friends graduate from the university when you never had the chance to go.

This is a part of the journey of life.

Since the beginning of time, there has always been one in a group who does something before everyone else and someone who seems to be “left behind,” and it sure does happen.

Yes, this is my story.

I can really understand where you are coming from because I have watched my friends walk down the aisles with their boo's one after the other. I know how it feels when the other friends are getting married and having children, but you are single. Still.

But it's not a competition.

If I had married my previous boyfriend just so I could be married for the sake of getting married, I'd probably be miserable.

Dear Diary, I Am So Happy For Bola Like!

A close friend, bola got married about three weeks ago and is enjoying her honeymoon right now. The next morning after her wedding day, I asked whether sex was sweet. Guess what she said? đŸ˜‚

Bola Is Married

OMG, it finally happened. Bola is married! Whoa. . . how weird is that to say? I can’t believe one of my personal persons is actually married! We have been talking about relationship and marriage issues ever since we met.

Bola and I have shared a lot together — pain and sadness, business and money, joy and fun.

DIARY: When November Brings New Memories

If someone asked you what was so special about November, what would you say? I think it can be so hard to remember specific days and events when every day goes by in a flash, right?

I decided to keep track of the month of November with a few sentences and some pictures.

Memories From November 2017
~November To Remember~

1/11 - My phone mistakenly falls off from a three-storey building while trying to place it on a surface after self-timing it to take a shot. . . Two things that blew my mind is that NOTHING happened to my phone and that it went ahead to snap me before hitting the floor. "November looks good already" I thought.

Dear Diary, All My Friends Are Getting Married Again

Hi Sweethearts! How was your weekend? I was eager to share about how my weekend went with you right after attending another wedding on Saturday but honestly, it's not coming out nice. I have deleted my introductory paragraphs more than twice. Here is what my draft had been like since Sunday until noon today . . .

I'm Not Married Yet

Today I'm like:

I blog blood. I blog tears. And I blog smiles.

Sometimes I wish I could write anonymously. Sometimes I wish I could tell the truth without giving myself away. Sometimes I wish I could be the blogger who only shares with the world about what she wears, what she knows, and what she has come to discover through her journey with God, without necessarily sharing what she genuinely feels in her heart. But, then, if I am that blogger who hides, maybe I wouldn't have counted the third year of being here.

Sometimes I write stuff that makes me cover my face in shame. Sometimes I write things that could make a potential suitor afraid to approach me. Sometimes I think I give myself off away too much. Sometimes I think I should stop sharing personal lessons and stories. But, then, if I do not write the words I am ashamed of, maybe the words I am proud of would never exist.

I rip my heart open and I pour out the words.

Well, this is neither a bloody, nor a teary, nor a happy entry . . .

Dear Diary, The Wedding Was Like A School Reunion

If you'd like to know the latest gist about me, just check my daily Tweets. Lol. My TL is more current than my blog - My sweethearts on Twitter have heard this gist sinceee.

Anyways, this happens to be my first public diary entry for the year. :)

The First Wedding 2017

I have a lot of friends. It always feels like bragging when I say that, like I’m suggesting I could be the inspiration for a Little Miss Popular magazine or something, but I’m not sure how else to phrase it right now.

Dear Diary, I attended My First Yoruba Traditional Wedding

Yoruba people like party. As in! If you've been to any Yoruba wedding ceremony, you know what I mean. It is usually nothing less than flamboyant. I hear it is the same process everywhere.

I attended one for the first time in my life, and believe me, it was beautiful.

Yoruba Traditional Wedding

Bunmi, the beautiful bride.

Girl, aren't those accessories gorgeous?!

I love weddings. I have proved it here, here, and there.

At every wedding I have attended, the bride is always the star of the day. I wasn't surprised to see Bunmi looking gorgeous and shining brighter than a diamond on her traditional wedding day.

What I Wore: Blue Bridal Dress

I didn't know what title to give to this post because I do not only want to show you what I wore to Bunmi's wedding, but also want to give you a little gist. Let's see how it goes . . .

Wedding Flow

I think I deserve an award when it comes to attending or participating in weddings. Without exaggeration, I have attended over 50 weddings and been on a bridal train for more than 20 weddings. I'm now wondering how many more I have left before I become the bride.

Dear Diary, They Made Me Look Like Masquerade

I wasn't just at Chidinma's wedding, but I was also on her train. Chidinma was my school mum. I did mention her here and here.

I Looked Like Masquerade

I love weddings. Oh, believe me I do! I’ve been to a lot of weddings – so many that I have lost count. And I’ve been a bridesmaid a couple of times.

You may wonder why I like to share what transpired over my weekend/life. I wonder too. Lol. One thing is I am consciously striving to live life filled with positivity, inspiration and love.
