DIARY: November to Remember (2023)

Oh, my! So much can happen in one month! It’s incredible how this month has turned into a lifetime of milestones. Wow!

November Highlights 2023

It has been a custom for me since 2017 to be very intentional about capturing my moments, blessings and lessons IN November. I don’t know what inspired this tradition, but I do know that I am never the same person by the end of November. I’m always evolving – from being broken to healed, single to married, married to pregnant, overwhelmed mother to joyful mother, and all that good stuff. I’m thankful for the Holy Spirit who quickens me to rise up to the challenge every single year.

Here are the highlights of my November 2023:

1. Best Portrait So Far

During my quiet time, I got a leading to create a portrait of me on my branded T-shirt, inscribed AMAKAMEDIA. So I penned it down on my to-do list for the weekend. I thought I’d go to the studio to do that.

The next day during my quiet time, the Holy Spirit prompted me about the portrait. I was so restless. He wanted me to get it done like right NOW.

Immediately, I rushed to powder my face and apply some lip gloss. Then, I switched on my ring light, set my phone on timer and SNAPPED.

Major Takeaway from the ‘Just Us Girls’ Conference 2023

I am so happy. No, happy is an understatement. I am overjoyed! This year’s Just Us Girls Conference themed ‘WOWMAN’ was brought together specifically for me, right in this season. Wow! Like, I mean!

I’m really loving how God has been so intentional about me this year (and this month, in particular). Thank You, my Sweet Jesus!

WOWMAN Conference 2023

I am big on attending conferences, and I derive satisfaction in sharing my key lessons and notes with you. Remember when I shared my highlights from The Spirit-Life Conference in 2017? How about my notes from a Ruth-Naomi Meeting in 2018? And my lessons from the Excellent Leadership in 2019? Aha, you see!

I have always enjoyed attending events that are geared towards my growth — mentally, socially, physically, and most importantly, spiritually. As long as I am led to attend, I prepare myself to receive everything that God intends to pour out into me.

Like a butterfly, I am consistently and constantly living in a state of evolution.

I practically live on knowing that there is an atmosphere that I need to be brought into right before my next upgrade. It could either be at a prayer meeting or a conference or from a place of pain and rejection. I am always looking out for where and how my heart can be stirred and my spirit will be lit up. I am always looking out for the WORD that will make the babies in my womb to leap. The Amaka you knew six months ago is MOST POSSIBLY not the same Amaka you will meet today.

DIARY: My First Trimester Update (Pregnancy Journey)

Exactly a month ago, I officially announced my pregnancy on YouTube through a music video. It is probably the most monumental thing to happen to me in my life so far, and I am documenting my journey on this blog.

This has been on the draft list for so long and now it’s time to publish it. 😊

Mid September 2020 - Mid December 2020
Week 1 - week 12

My blog, Heart Rays has been with me for the best part of my twenties, and over the years I’ve shared personal anecdotes (choosing a career path, finding love, getting heartbroken, getting a job, battling with lust, quitting a job, getting married, etc) and I enjoy looking back on those from time to time.

For those who have followed me from the early days, it feels like a natural progression for my blog as I now transcend into my early thirties with my first pregnancy.

I wouldn’t say finding out I was pregnant wasn’t overwhelming, scary, exciting, surprising etc etc etc. It took me a while to get my head around it. I didn’t know what and how to share the journey. I also didn’t FEEL that it was the right thing to do. However, I spilled my emotions into my private diary most of the time. And now I KNOW this is the right time for me to share publicly.

Dear Diary,

This is our first child, so everything about my pregnancy has been new. And with that comes a mix of emotions. There’s not a day that goes by that I haven’t thought about my pregnancy and I find myself questioning far more than I would otherwise do — Is this twinge or ache or pain normal? Should I be feeling this exhausted? Why am I getting headaches more often? Why am I not being sick? Is anything even happening in there?

That last sentence might sound funny, but I didn’t have the first scan until around 8 weeks. Because I wasn’t experiencing the normal symptoms (mainly sickness, although I was feeling tired constantly) and of course couldn’t feel anything in my stomach at this point, I started to constantly question whether everything was okay.

I asked Google, “when is the baby supposed to kick my stomach?”. Yeah, something like that.

Happy New Week, Sweeties! By this time last month, I was celebrating my 30th birthday milestone with close friends and family. Apparently, I am thirty years, one month and one day old today. Lol.

In case you missed it: shortly before I got to 30, I devoted time and effort to sharing lessons from my 20s. Here is a recap.

This Is What You Will Learn From Your First Full-time Job

Happy New Week! Trust your weekend was great. I will be 30 on the 26th day of the coolest month of the year. And so I have decided to share my lessons from being a 20-something just before my journey into 30 begins.

This post is the sixth. I hope it inspires you in some way. Happy reading!

First-time Employee

lessons from my first job

My first official job was a call centre agent.

Thinking about it now, this role also played out in my second and third jobs. I was always handling calls and managing incoming or outgoing information for each organization/brand.

I will tell you about my other jobs in subsequent posts. However, let's focus on what I learned from my first job.

That You Will Be Scared

Nothing beats the feeling you get when you receive your first employment letter. After applying and going to the interview, getting the job is one of the best feelings in the world. You will be filled with anxiety and excitement all together.

The first time is always potentially terrifying. It can be impossible and daunting, but some people make it possible and learn the ropes. I did.

DIARY: These 20 Things I Learnt In My 20s Are Blockbusters

Hi people! It's exactly a month to my 30th birthday and I have thinking a lotttttt! In a good way, though. Yes! And I realized that the lessons I learned all through my 20-somethings are blogblusters, actually.

I'm going to be taking you on a very large explosive-bomb journey. Get ready!

Secrets from my 20s

We all have secrets.

Secrets that are very deep and some that are not so very intense.

Some secrets are shared when the right time comes while some will never ever see the light of day.

I will be hitting thirty on Friday, 26 June. And the time has come for me to share some of my secrets with you. I will be using the last few days of my 20s to share things you definitely haven't heard me say. And even if you were among those who were affected, you would have never read it from me in a manner such as this.

My secrets, which would be both inspiring and entertaining, will be shared daily from Monday June 1 until the day before my birthday, Thursday June 25.

Here is a sneak peek of my life at 20s:

Top 3 Influential Women I'm Wishing A Happy International Women's Day In 2020

All over the world, March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day. I thought to celebrate the women who have been greatly influential in my life instead of doing the regular Sunday-Style post today.

3 Women I Celebrate In My Life Today

There are many influential women in the world from all walks of life—politics, business, sports, and the arts to name just a few. Do you know what makes them influential? It's the RESPECT they give and receive. Respect had to be earned or given. You just can't take it.

In my opinion, being influential is more about being respected.

According to Webster Dictionary, to be 'influential' means to possess influence.

in·flu·ence | \ ˈin-ˌflü-ən(t)s\
1: the power or capacity of causing an effect in indirect or intangible ways:

2a: the act or power of producing an effect without apparent exertion of force or direct exercise of command:

DIARY: November to Remember (2019)

Consider what God has brought you through in the past. In spite of your current circumstances, how can that give you hope for the future?

November 2019

One of the most amazing things I can say about God is this: He is faithful. He stays closer than a brother, His mercy is new every morning, and He never leaves us alone or forsakes us in the dark times.

Sometimes in order to look forward we have to look back. We have to see God's track record in our lives to be assured of our future. This is me keeping track of God's faithfulness in my life.

Driving Little Starts

Weird title, I know. I’m at that point where more people get to ask you whether you can drive. I have friends who can drive, and I’ve definitely heard my closest peeps hinting that I should learn.

So I went to a driving school. 😁

Little Starts

I'm learning how to drive. Like really, d-r-i-v-e. I'm not talking about driving a car with an auto gearbox, but I'm talking about driving a manual car with three pedals: clutch, brake and accelerator (in that order, left to right).

And boy, it's been few weeks on this journey and I'm yet to get a hang of the clutch pedal. It is obviously the thing that makes driving a manual car more difficult than an auto.

The brake and accelerator pedals are pretty simple — press the brake to slow down (the firmer you press it, the quicker you’ll lose speed), while using the accelerator increases the engine’s revs and causes you to speed up (the firmer you press it, the quicker you will speed up). But the clutch? Let's not go into too much detail.

Dear Diary, This Is A Husband Appreciation Entry

I'll be celebrating six months in marriage in 1,2,3,4 days. I thought it'll be fun to appreciate my husband in my diary. I don't do it enough.

To My Husband

I prayed and talked about my Future Husband for a long time. See here, here, there and there. Little did I know that you had existed in my past and were already in my present. If I had known you were the one God had instructed me to do that 21-Day Public Prayer and Fasting for ehn, I probably wouldn't have prayed with such passion and zeal. Lol.

Kachi, you are my answered prayer. You are the man of my dreams. Not just that, you are the man who has slain the dragons in my nightmares. You have exceeded my dreams, brought to life a man my dreams didn’t know existed.

An Inspiration From Wakanda (The 'Black Panther' 2018 Movie)

Y-e-s, yes! I went to see Marvel's latest movie, 'Black Panther' at the cinema yesterday and it was lit! I'm typing from the land of Wakanda right now. Lol.

The fictional country of Wakanda is certainly a sight to behold in Black Panther. A futuristic metropolis brimming with sound and colour. *holds breathe* Can't catch my breath. Oh my!

Open Your Hand

Black Panther is the latest movie on the box office right now. It’s been the buzz ever since the premiere dropped. That I got to see it yesterday gives me joy. The colours, the movement, the depth, the vibrancy. I was mesmerized. I got all misty-eyed. My goodness. It was art. It was just a feast for my eyes.

One of the things I love about Black Panther is its pure representation of African culture  strong, powerful black men, beautiful, wise women, people of talent and colour. We even see Ankara fabric all over the place. Aww!

Ankara is my vibranium.

And the casting? Superb! Each character nailed their scripts to bits. The people of Wakanda is proud of their heritage and of who they are. They’re the type of heroes who inspire audiences down to their bones.

Dear Diary, The Testimony Is Like This

There is no better way to wrap up Dear Diary for the year than the performance of the very Word of God. It is so obvious that God sees the end from the beginning. I'm awed!

Word Made Flesh

And when I cried unto the Lord God of my fathers
The Lord heard my voice
and looked on my affliction
my labour
my oppression

When God Gives No Gift

Happy Boxing Day! Time to unwrap our gifts and enjoy our blessings. Shall we? :)

Where Is My Gift?

I remember asking a similar question, where is my gift?

Even the MD acknowledged that I was perfect for the position. The interview went smoothly. And the audition swept everyone off their feet.

See What I Got For Christmas :)

Hello sweeties! Hope you had a fantastic Christmas celebration. Oya gist me. :)
Exactly two weeks ago, I told you what I had on my wish list. So I think it's proper to show you what I finally got. :)

What I Got For Christmas

I googled the meaning of "Boxing Day" to be very sure I know what it means. But it appears Mr. Google is also confused. Who knows the real meaning??

OK. While I await your response. I guess Boxing Day is stated to be December 26, a day to open your Christmas gift box. Yeah? Well, I couldn't meet up to our posting time (5:59 AM) on Saturday. So I postponed it till today.

PODCAST: The Gift

Yayy. . . It's Friday! I have a special feeling on Fridays. I just can't explain it. It's ecstatic. (*whispers* I just might get married on a Friday. Who knows?)

I'm so excited because something BIG is about to happen. I started the week by telling you that when God wants to bless us, He gives us new ideas. I believe God is pouring out His blessings on us this season. We need to get our hearts prepared and positioned to receive. The basic concern for today is learning to receive God's blessings with the right attitude. Many times, we do not recognize our blessings when we receive them. We experience blessings in disguise everyday. We just never know it.

Today, I'm ROL (Reading Out Loud). This is a story from inspirationalstories.com.
