Lord, Please Forgive Me For Not Being Grateful Enough

My thanksgiving account is so in the red. I have not been as grateful as I'm expected to be. I am currently filling in my account.

Gratitude Challenge

Last weekend, I attended The RCCG Holy Ghost Service at The Redemption camp. That was where I was reminded of how ungrateful I had been to God. I was reminded three times.

First, when I arrived at The Redemption Camp, I started to ask God what I wanted to get from His presence. A Voice said to me; "Do not be ungrateful". I kinda brushed that aside. I thought to myself, I am not here to play. There are so many issues bothering me. I continued to present my case before God.

Second, during the  pre-ministration, the pastor was preaching on a topic he titled "Ichabod to Ebenezer". It had nothing to do with thanksgiving, yet it sounded like all he was saying was "Do not be ungrateful. Do not be ungrateful". I started to worry, what is this again?

Third, when the General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye ended his soul-piercing and spirit-lifting sermon, one of the prayer points he highlighted was; "Father, please forgive me for not being grateful enough." Then it dawned on me, God has been telling me this all day!

God doesn't want us to ask for anything. He simply wants us to thank Him for what He has already done.

Why didn't I get it earlier? I was blinded by my ingratitude. I couldn't see what He had done for me because I kept looking at what He hasn't done yet. This diary entry - Nothing is working also came to my mind. I only mentioned my unresolved issues. What about the ones He'd sorted out? I realized I've been quite a whiner lately. I'd been asking and asking, complaining and complaining, and all that stuff. I cried.

Lord, please forgive me for not being grateful enough!!!

Ingratitude is a serious sin. You tend to focus on your problems instead of your blessings. I have decided in my heart to consciously develop a lifestyle of gratitude. What about you?

Pray With Me:
Lord, please forgive me for not being grateful enough. Overwhelm my heart with Your power, goodness, love, and glory, that my heart would default to praising You in every moment. I ask for grace to remain grateful for the rest of my life . . . starting from today. Amen.

My dearest sweethearts, this is not just a Monday inspirational review. I want to challenge you to express some gratitude unto God. Maybe you've not been thanking Him enough. Or maybe you need to thank Him even more. Whatever be your case, you have to thank God. Gratitude brings joy to life. It is a positivity booster.

So I'm introducing a gratitude challenge. You will write 5 things you are grateful for on any of your social media platform. You can post it on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or anywhere.

Here Are The Rules:
  • You have 72 hours to accept the challenge when you are nominated.
  • Write or say 5 things you are grateful for on any social media platform. (just a day)
  • Display a picture of gratitude. A picture of something simple that makes (or made) you smile in a day. It is not an opportunity to show off how rich you are. Let it be something that is simple (and inexpensive) yet a blessing. Catch my drift? OK.
  • Nominate 5 other people in your circle. Ensure that you inform them immediately.

I'll go first.

5 Things I Am Grateful For
  1. Family: They are my support system, there's really no other place I can find the amount of love and care I get from my family. I am totally grateful for them.
  2. Good health and sound mind: They say health is wealth, and I know not everybody has the privilege to enjoy the benefits of good health and sound mind, and for this I am very grateful.
  3. Creativity: I am so grateful for the ability to imagine things and bring them to light. Sometimes I dazzle myself while blogging. Not everybody has the opportunity to tap into their creativity. It is a gift I should never take for granted.
  4. Friendship and relationship: You. You. And you are part of the beautiful things that have happened to me. I'm glad to have met you along life's journey. I'm grateful for all the wonderful friends in my life.
  5. Smile and laughter: Laughter is truly the best medicine. I love to laugh. I enjoy the relaxed and happy after feeling it gives. I'm not sure, but I don't think many people enjoy it. So for laughter, I am grateful. Oh yes, for my beautiful smile too. :)

My Picture of Gratitude

My Nomination

Please don't break the chain. I'm also automatically tagging everyone reading this post. I would love you to share at least one thing you're grateful for in the comment box. You can actually upload pictures in the comment box too. Yes, you can!

I'd so love to see your pictures of gratitude! Simpy click on the image icon.
(Note: Only comments with images are being moderated)

I have discovered there’s a perfect correlation between gratitude and stress. The more you practice an attitude of gratitude, the less stressed you’ll be. Life just got more interesting. Yay!

Happy new week!
Be grateful. Be happy. Be inspired.
