RELATIONSHIP: Where To Find True Lasting Satisfaction

How often do you feel sad, lonely and empty inside? How often do you feel anxious, depressed, hopeless, angry or hurt?

Our feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, hurt, guilt, shame, loneliness and fear are telling us one thing: something is missing.

The Love That Satisfies

I owe this post to the personal encounters in the 30-Day Man Fast inspired by God with whom I am falling madly in love. My big hole of emptiness is being filled. Hallelujah!

Do you know you could be lacking something and not be aware?

If we think we have everything we need within ourselves because we are good, or because we believe we have it all together, sooner or later we will have a rude awakening. Rude.

It is precisely in our emptiness — actually not just in our emptiness, for God Himself knows we are but dust — when we become aware of our emptiness that we allow our relationship with God to blossom.

When we acknowledge our weakness, limitation and need for God's love, then we invite God to be great — to be glorified in us; we give God permission to supply all that we lack, to pour His abundance on our poverty.

We are all empty vessels. The emptier we are, the greater we need to be filled.

Many relationship issues center around this mutual state of inner emptiness. When each of us is receiving from one another to get filled, everyone will end up feeling drained at the end of the day.

Emptiness can't fill emptiness.

Like any vacuum, our inner vacuum automatically receives energy (rays of love and light) from others. We are desperately needing to feel safe and loved, and hoping that by being with someone or having more stuffs, we can fill the emptiness.

Even when we don’t overtly receive from others, our energy (rays of love and light) will automatically be given to them, because the empty space either way needs to get filled to feel safe and loved.

Everybody is hungry. The world is hungry. Just as our physical body hungers for food, our soul has its own hungers, its own desires for satisfaction and fulfillment.

The question is, where do you get your satisfaction?

Behind an addiction is an emptiness. Behind many relationships is a hungry heart, hoping that the right relationship will make us happy.

Let God fill you up with His Love.

Until you are devoted to cultivating an intimate relationship with God, it is likely that you will continue to feel the loneliness, depression and sadness that comes from the emptiness.

When you are loving God and experiencing His love for you, you will feel a deep inner sense of safety, peace and fullness. Nothing other than the love of God will ever satisfy you.

For a long time I was looking for something, for a relationship to fill the emptiness that only Jesus could. I know better now.

Sweetie, your boo or bae can only complement you, but can never ever satisfy you. You need Jesus big time!

What helps you to remember that God is the only One who gives true satisfaction?
