Dear Diary, It Is For His Name's Sake

I woke up to the knowledge that God will NOT let me fail on this journey just for the sake of His name.

For Your Name's Sake

When I go down the path of sin and lose my bearing, You, my God restore my soul. You guide me in paths of righteousness for Your name's sake. I am created, saved and sanctified for Your name's sake.

Because You are my Shepherd,

I commit all that I ever need to You  .

You are the Provider of the platforms for me to perform,

You lead me beside still waters.

You restore my soul when I ache,

For Your name’s sake, you lead me in the right paths.

You are with me when I walk in darkness,

Even through the valley of the shadow of death.

You deliver me from evil,

And protect me with Your rod and staff.

You prepare a table to feed me,

So my enemies can see Your power and glory.

You anoint me with the oil of Your healing,

I drink from the abundance of Your provision.

Surely goodness and mercy will always follow me,

And I will continaully live in Your presence.

One of the things I love about Psalm 23 is how personal David makes His relationship with God. And so I tried to copy that form myself.

It is a reminder that God leads me into paths of love, and He does it for his name’s sake. God is the beginning and God is the end of all my righteousness. The path of righteousness has His grace as its starting point (for He leads me into it) and it has his glory as its destination (because His leading is for his name’s sake).

For the LORD will not forsake His people FOR HIS GREAT NAME'S SAKE: cos it hath pleased the LORD to make you His people.
- 1Sam 12:22

Nevertheless he saved them FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
- Psalm 106:8

I have got a growing sense of confidence that arises from the conviction that God’s honour is at stake in the way He is leading my life. And my prayers for my own purification are more fervent and I think more effectual because I now have a tremendous argument with which to come to God:

Dear Lord, create in me a clean heart, for your name’s sake.
