RELATIONSHIP: 5 Ways To Be A Blessing To Others Even When You Are Broke

I've been singing a particular song for such a long time, thank God, I am now singing a new song. My prayer point has suddenly changed. Wow. Shout out to those who called, texted and commented about/on yesterday's post. God bless you all real good.

Yep. We are back to regular blogging. Although our time table might change a little bit because we are stepping into a new season. I can only hope that it sits well with you.

Till then, it's Love-Wednesday!

How To Be A Blessing

We are in the season of giving and receiving gifts. Many people are going shopping, others are wondering what their next meal would be. Life. Many people would receive loads of gifts, others would feel they are all alone in the world. Life.

The season is all about sharing - sharing with loved ones and strangers. We can all partake in the joy that it brings.

I want to share 5 ways to be a blessing without having to spend money.

  • Pray

Talking to God on behalf of another person can move mountains.

We tend to be pretty selfish when it comes to prayer. I know right. However, interceding for others produces joy in our hearts. It forces us to take our minds off of ourselves and turn them to others - which in turn helps us to walk and grow in love practically.

Observe the needs of those God has set in your path. Pray about ways to solve their problems. Pray to be a source of constant encouragement and a blessing to others.

  • Just listen

Sometimes all someone needs is for someone else to listen to them.

They just need someone to talk to and confide in. Someone who will listen without judging. Someone who will listen without shooting blames.

Nothing beats the joy that comes from making someone feel lighter and loved just by letting them pour their heart out.

You’d be surprised to know how many people commit suicide every year just because they feel so alone, hopeless, or misunderstood. Let's learn to LISTEN.

  • Give words of encouragement

Simply encouraging others to keep on keeping on can go a looong way.

There are days when I desperately need someone to say, "you will be fine." This is one of the reasons why I value everyone who leave a comment on my blog (and other blogs). It keeps me going.

There is not a day that goes by that we couldn’t benefit from some encouragement. Some days are darker than others. Sometimes we just need to hear someone else say “It’s going to be fine”.

Be that person who gives encouragement.

I spent a little time with the choir on Sunday. It felt so good. I'd love to join a music band someday.

  • Volunteer

Now more than ever volunteers are needed in every area. Orphanages, Homeless shelters, Child care centres . . . can all use a helping hand. It won’t cost you a dime. Just an hour or two of your time will make an impact on someone for a lifetime.

A hoarded blessing is never enjoyed as richly as a shared one.

Using your gift to meet someone else’s need glorifies God by demonstrating His grace at work in your life. Don’t let His generous provisions end with you. Pass them on and discover the joy of a never-ending cycle of blessings!

The truth is, things like kindness, consideration, genuineness, honesty, unsolicited help, interest in others, attention to detail, excellence in all things, fairness don't need money – things that flow through all our words and deeds as a result of our being blessed of God don't always need big account – all these things can impact others.

It is not a good thing to be broke at Christmas mehn. If you’re stuck with the feelings and thoughts of being broke, if you feel distant from God, if you don’t feel blessed, start with gratitude. Ask Him to show you how He has blessed you, is blessing you, and will bless you. When you know how blessed you are, you'll get an insight into how to be a blessing . . .

It's Christmas.
