A Way Out of Depression

Yesterday, I didn't go anywhere. I was on the bed. I wasn't sick. But I was depressed at some point. Yes, for once I admit I was in a state of depression. I am human. You know?

A Way Out of Depression

I do not know the best way to define depression but I know how to describe the way it feels. However, there are 3 things to keep in mind; Depression is natural. It is an emotion. And it is a state of mind.

Last week, I went for an audition. After the audition, I had an interview. And the interview panel was impressed (they expressly said so). And I know I gave it my best shot. I was hopeful. (still hopeful).

So I started worrying about why they haven't contacted me yet. I started worrying about what I wasn't doing right. I started worrying about what wasn't happening already. I started worrying about everything going on in my life.

When you are depressed, you are frustrated, tired of life. You can't think of anything but the one thing that's making you depressed. You over-think, and if you're like me, you will cry. You might also try to hurt yourself. You begin to associate every event of your daily life to that one thing. You just loose yourself to your thoughts. And you even feel mentally ill.

I didn't want to talk to anybody. I was lost in my own thoughts. I couldn't concentrate. I felt useless. My heart was sick.

Depression became real to me. You know, I am not one who says that she can be depressed, I'd rather say I am stressed out. But I've come to understand that depression is an emotion that anybody can feel at anytime.
The Bible says in Prov. 12:25a: "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression. . ."
When you are depressed, it is okay to admit it, and it is okay to ask for help. It's also okay to talk about it like I'm doing right now. Life will still have its ups and downs, but don't let the "downs" hold you down for too long.

How do I find a way out? I get a grip of God's promises. I start to think about the past miracles in my life. Then I think about the blessings of my family and friends. I also think about how far I have come. As I focus my mind on the positives, I start to feel so good on the inside.
The same verse, Proverb 12:25b gives the solution; ". . . a good word makes the heart glad."
A good word is positive and life-giving. It's more like confessing what God has spoken concerning you. When you focus your mind on the positives, you give no room for depression. Being grateful for the blessings you have already, radiates your heart with gladness and joy. Think about the goodness of God in your life and you'll be happy. :)

Top Secret: When you are depressed, use your gifts to make someone happy. There is no joy greater than making someone happy. There will be absolutely no time for depression when you bless someone. Sweetheart, go make a difference. You'll be out of depression in no time.

Guess what? Having you read this article makes me happy. :)

Have you ever been depressed?

Sometimes depression just sneaks up on you most times after a huge success or victory. God really is the only way out of it.

And Sometimes it comes just before a huge victory too. That's when the devil comes with his logistics, and fake words. God helps us.

Thanks, sweet Mo.
