What Are The 7 Wonders Of Life According To You?

Hi, hi! It's been a minute. Working a 9-5 job as well as planning a wedding (in fact three weddings. A court wedding, a traditional wedding and a church wedding. Phew!) have been taking the biggest chunk of every twenty-four hours I get. Happy I can squeeze out time to write a post here. May we never lose our wonder in the passage of time. Amen.

The Seven Wonders Of Life

You have heard a lot about the seven wonders of the world, and may have even visited few or all of them. But have you ever given a thought about the 7 Wonders Of Your Personal Life?

I mean, have you?

Life in itself is a wonder. Life is full of wonder. But sometimes we get carried away by the busyness of our life and miss out on the things that make life wonderful for what it is. I've continued asking people the same basic question. How do you stay fully present, fully-engaged, fully-alive? I've also asked my private diary like a beggar asking for scraps of wisdom , "how do I not lose myself in all of these?" And the answer is astounding:

"never lose your childlike sense of wonder." (Thanks to Bethel Music. Yo!)

So, what is wonder? According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, wonder is a feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable, or unfamiliar. Oh, I love this definition. Wonder gives depth to our passion. Wonder reignites our faith. Wonder asks us to live with eyes wide open to God. Wonder invites us out of the shallows and into hallows of the divine.

The wonders about life are relative. Because we all look at the world around us differently, so what strike wondrous to you is unique to you.

I'll share a few wonders about my life (perhaps I should say as at today, they could change, right?) while you share yours in the comment box:

1. THE WONDER OF COLOUR

I am totally in awe of colours. The 7 colours of the rainbow. ROYGBIV — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet which make up the colours of the white light is such a wonder to behold. Colour makes life brighter, happier and more beautiful. Can you imagine what life would be like without colour? Can you imagine waking up and not see the bright sun steam your eyes and help you get up? Can you imagine walking in a colourless garden? Can you imagine not seeing a blue sky? Jeez. Please, I don't want to imagine such bland life.

Life without colours, for me, is a life not worth living.

2. THE WONDER OF EMOTION

The ability to feel! I loveet! There is no denying the fact that we experience all kinds of emotions, because we have the ability to feel. To not be able to feel, is the worst feeling in somebody's life. And so, it is indeed a wonder to have feelings. This is usually taken for granted, that's why it's often suppressed. But aren't the most beautiful (or I should say the most memorable moments in our lives), the ones we feel most deeply? Even if it is pain.

Every heartbreak and ecstasy I have experienced is a wonder to me. The feelings and expressions of emotion is a beautiful life experience. It's a wonder how much emotion I can experience within a minute. In just a moment.

3.  THE WONDER OF NATURE

Is the vastness of the sky not a wonder? Ah. To witness nature, it's sounds, the wind, the moon, the sky, the sun, the stars, the changing weather, the deceptive horizon, the trees, the rain, the birds, the rivers, the creatures and everything that is outside the concrete walls is wondrous. It is really a blessing to immerse myself in the arms of nature. It would seem no less than a wonder if we take out some time for it and actually experience them.

The beach is one of my 'wonder' places. How about you?

4. THE WONDER OF LOVE

Love is purely one of the most wonderful things in my life. It is wonderful to be connected with people. Love is a connection. Love is not restricted. Not restricted to a person. It is vast. It is a connection between a mother and child, between a sister and her brother, between two best friends, between two lovers, between a person and a dream, between a human and a tree, between us and the moment. It is endless, the combinations are infinite.

Once, we're full of love, for anything in fact, our lives elevate from normal to supernatural. We're in better sync with ourselves and everything around us. And maybe that's one of the purpose of life — to teach our soul about love.

Whether someone believes in a religion or not, whether someone believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something — love. I think that's what life is about. Love.

*bites lip* Nothing beats the feeling of loving and being loved in return. To have a companion, a friend, a stable and secure individual who you can lean on, trust and depend on to help and to hold as you go through life is a wonder.

5. THE WONDER OF IMAGINATION

The sheer curiosity of a mind (or maybe soul) is no doubt a wonder. It's amazing what our mind is capable of. Letting my mind drift and wander is one of the best wonders of life. I honestly believe we are in touch with the future when we have a new and creative idea.

Our dream, intuition and creative thinking all take place in our imagination. We are defined by what we imagine. When we begin to put it into our activities, in music, art, writing, technology or whatever. Then if we succeed we are now in the future we imagined, for our imagination came before the reality. Isn't that wonderful?

Imagination is a vehicle to the divine. Even God brags about being able to do exceedingly above all that we can ever imagine. Ephesians 3:20. It's a wonder to connect with God in that realm.

When our mind grasps everything else like a wonder, it enables us to wonder. Did I tell you this post was inspired by my consistent Whatsapp status update. I was posting pictures of my outfit daily and before I knew it, I caught the wonder of the moment.

PK's response was spot on
Kween tho. Lol.
Isn't it strange that in the above sentence, the word 'wonder' holds two different meanings. But they complement each other. Yes. To be a wonder is indeed a wonder of life. It gives the chance to ask 'what if". It gives us the chance to seek answers. It gives us a chance to embark on journeys. Journeys of self-discovery. journeys of adventure. Journeys of love.

6. THE WONDER OF A MOMENT

Life is about time and moments. There are time for beginnings and time for endings. Time to grow from an infant to an adult. It is like walking down a path which can never be retraced. There is only one way to traverse it, and that is by moving forward and sipping every bit. The scenarios you encounter while travelling each path, will never be the same. But the essence of important moments will always be remembered inyour heart. It is wonderful to me 'how' these moments change. For instance, weeks back I was apologetically single, today I am happily engaged. Trust me, this moment is surreal.

Sometimes the 'little moments' are the most wonderful. To see the beauty in a moment. Like listening to peaceful music, or messaging an old friend out of the blue, or waking up in the morning with an unexpected fullness, finding someone spontaneously wearing the same colour as you, or wearing your brother's shirt, or watching a bird feeding her babies, or just sitting to write. We all define these little things differently, but they are special. They are their own miracles.

7. THE WONDER OF GOD

Picture me singing Kurt Carr's 'awesome wonder' right now:

🎶 You are an awesome wonder,
no other power compares to You
Perfect in all Your ways,
everyday faithful ever true
Oceans applaud You,
creation declares Your grandeur, Here in Your splendor,
I surrender to the wonder of Your power 🎶

God is the wonder of all wonders. God is constantly offering us wonderful glimpses of His presence with us in this world. Yet, too often, we don’t notice because we’re so preoccupied with the details of our lives that we don’t look beyond them to what God is showing us. One time I was super aware of his presence and filled with wonder, God gave me a hug. For real.

If your focus has shrunk down to just trying to get through each day, it’s time to enlarge your perspective so you can enjoy an abundant life that’s filled with wonder.

God has proven Himself faithful countless times, and He will do it again. He has extended His gracious love to me always even though I am undeserving. He has proven Himself powerful and almighty over and over again. He has blessed me time and time again. His faithfulness, His strength, His character, His creativity will last through the ages, and I will wonder at it all of the days of my life.

I am continually praying never to waver at standing in awe of God. I pray for genuine sense of wonder and worship for He deserves it and more!

"Look among the nations! Observe!
Be astonished! Wonder!
Because I am doing something in your days—
You would not believe if you were told."

— Habakkuk 1:5
I think what you find wondrous, is not the same thing I would be wondered about. Like I found the colours in an Ankara fabric to be spectacular in beauty and I was just in awe, but someone was literally like "what? This is just Ankara".  Find what captivates you. . . that is part of the wonder.

P. S. One of the many ways God has left me wonder-struck is in my love story. Like, I'm getting married in 30days. Can you imagine that? Wow!
