2017 So Far . . .

Hi sweets. I pray your heart be ever filled with love, joy and peace. Miss you!

I’ve been thinking of the best way to sum up 2017 so far because I’m optimistic that we still have some days ahead of us, and as we know, "a day is like a thousand years with God." If you follow me on any of the social media sites you probably have an idea of my current mood: JOY. God has been so good!

Boxing Day 2017

When a week, or a month, or a year is over, do you ever wonder, "Wow, what did I achieve?" "Where did time go?" Been there. Done that.

I know I used to mourn the end of each year, wondering what I had to show for it. But since I started writing (blogging, I'd say), I have learned to keep track of progress in my private diary. Certainly I know that I would be a different personality, if my blog has not provided me the opportunity to reflect myself so regularly and intensively.

It's been a year of healing, acceptance, and everything in-between. Lord, I am ready for what you have prepared me for. Yes!!!

When you keep track of your daily efforts and God's grace, you will be able to celebrate growth, and give God thanks. Like seriously.

I see firsthand the growth that has taken place, the people who has been a blessing and a lesson on my journey, the books that had been read, the variety of events attended, the audiences I had shared God's love with, the articles written, the number of reunions and weddings celebrated, and even the number of clothes I'd worn.

The Word we received for 2017 was 'Prepare Your Heart', and it took me a whole year to understand it. Ah, my heart has seen things. Lol.

He has been preparing us all year for what he is going to do next year.

An image I totally love from the Bible encourages me here. The prophet Isaiah wrote, "Those who wait on the LORD shall . . . mount up with wings like eagles" (Isaiah 40:31).

The time we spend in solitude (alone, single) with our Bible and in prayer, our private life spent with our heavenly Father, is time spent waiting on God. Then in the fullness of time, in God's perfect timing, there is the mounting up, the taking flight like an eagle. We begin to soar because we've been with the LORD.

Last bridal train of the year. . .  prepared as a bride adorned for her husband 😚
(Rev. 21:2)

I don't know about you, but 2017 has been like an invisible phase for me. Amakamedia didn't really fly like I wanted her to. (As in, I no shine well well). And I am tempted to think that the quiet hidden time with Him doesn't really count — that it doesn't show, it doesn't matter, and no one cares. After all, nobody sees it.

There is no glory, no splash, no attention given to those weeks, months, years of waiting on God.

No one sees us read and study God's inspiring Word. No one is present to watch us memorize and meditate on God's life-changing truths. No one sees or understands the tears in our eyes. God alone sees us on bended knee in the heart-wrenching work of prayer, work He uses to prepare us for what's next.

And then, one day we are prepared. We find ourselves ready.

So, when the opportunity presents itself, we will mount up with wings like an eagle — ready to do God's will! We become privileged to live out the saying that success comes when preparation meets opportunity.
