What I Wore: The Truth About How Long It Takes

Hi sweethearts of my blogosphere! Happy New Month! Glad we made it into the second half of the year. Thankful for life and everything else.

It's Style-Sunday!

Long Ankara Skirt

Like I told you here, I am writing a book. For now we'd call it #HWMH. And writing HWMH has not been easy.

Writing a book, a fictitious story about your life in a way that will interest anyone other than your mother is not a joke. In fact, “this happened to me” and “here’s what I think” posts can be boring if care is not taken. . .and can even make you appear as a narcissist.

But then a blogger like yours truly comes along and hopefully wishes to eloquently share her own personal story about her thoughts and life — style, career, relationship, everything. Only she’s not writing in retrospect, with the insight of knowing how her story will end. Instead, she’s telling this tale as it unfolds.

The ending is still a long way off.

Even though I only started just over three weeks ago, I can hardly remember the chapter that preceeded this chapter of my life anymore. And in the messy, map-less middle of this ugly-beautiful story, all I’m pretty much capable of right now is an unfiltered brain dump. In order to save you the stress of reading a boring blog post, I'd rather wait till the end of this chapter.

When I tell people I write for a living, they roll their eyes at me. However, the truth is I am currently copywriting for a media agency. Easy job. Anyone can write. It's just a matter of putting a bunch of words to together. Isn't it?

I thought so too until I started writing this book. Ah. It's harrrd. I set aside a few mornings to write but I’d sit there looking at the manuscript unable to get my head back into it. Then, I’d make one edit only to create a domino effect throughout the rest of the book.

The thing is, as a copywriter or blogger you can easily write,

 "She smiled."

But as an author, you got to put it rightly like;

"Her cheeks dimpled, and the corners of her eyes wrinkled. Her lips curved, and she showed a part of her beautiful set of teeth. You could tell she was beaming with something called joy."

Long story short, girl you need an Ankara skirt! I wore this long Ankara yesterday to run some errands and meet up with some family-friends. Based on the compliments I received, I think it's lovely. :)

It is the newest Ankara skirt in my wardrobe, sewn specially for next week Sunday. See here.

Long skirts are the easiest piece to wear because it’s so difficult to sew one that doesn’t enhance our shape. They’re comfy and they can cover all the flaws that a mini skirt would enhance instead: a bit of dark spots here, some broken capillaries there, even an imperfect wax!

May our July be filled with long joyful laughter, the kind of laughter that will hurt our stomach and spoil our faces (especially in pictures).

And may the heavens grant us speed to accomplish greater things in this second half of the year.

"Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do. And don't let what you can do stop you from doing what you must do."

See you in three weeks!
Cheers!
Stay inspired.
