I didn't want to make a big deal out of this but since I have nothing else to write about. Let's deal with it already!
He Stole My Tweet (Plagiarism)
When you don't find me on the blogosphere, I am probably on Twitterville. I like to tweet and read tweets. Doing that stirs my mind to think up words with just 140 characters. It inspires my creativity. Yup!
So yesterday, I was "stirring" my mind on Twitter. It was so much fun until. . . I found a tweet I once posted verbatim, it was posted by another handle (person). I screamed!
I posted at 8:08 AM |
He posted at 8:28 AM |
I screamed for three reasons:
1. The guy didn't acknowledge me. That's plagiarism!
2. The guy got many more retweets than I did. Ouch!
3. It is not one of those tweets you see around. It's very personal because I thought it through!
2. The guy got many more retweets than I did. Ouch!
3. It is not one of those tweets you see around. It's very personal because I thought it through!
MORAL LESSON: Plagiarism is painful. It hurts the originator of the work or idea. Please, let's acknowledge the words/works of those we use everyday. (I also speak to myself).
And that's how this guy stole my tweet and got many more RTs (retweets) than I did. Should I be happy?
Lol. Yeah, right! |
So what do you think? Ever had a similar experience?

Lmaoooo. That's a normal thing. Just forget it. It happens.
ReplyDeletePlagiarism is everywhere on social media. nobody cares who thought it out first. Wait til you find someone who stole your blogpost verbatim.
ReplyDeletePlagiarism is violation of intellectual property rights and is considered as a crime. It is like stealing other persons property and claiming it as your own. It even discourages somebody's thinking and learning ability of a person. Forgive him anyway
ReplyDeleteDid you say "normal"? Smh. That everyone does it doesn't make it right.
ReplyDeleteI will sue that 'someone' straight! Why do you think I have a barrister on my blogosphere. Barr. Bola will take up the case!
ReplyDeleteExactly, Johnny!
ReplyDeleteBut I actually have actually forgiven him. lol. I only wanted to point out something. Thanks. ;)
Very painful, have experienced it a lot of times. People should learn to live by rules..

Lol it is painful indeed. But look at the bright side like that person said. "your words inspired 40+ people. It sucks tho. I have an impostor on that same twitter. This person has my picture as avatar and uses my former handle. Can you imagine? Even had the guts to follow me! I've blocked and reported as spam countless times but twitter has done nothing about it. Smh

ReplyDeletelol. Pele. Plagiarism is a very bad thing, indeed. As usual, you can quote some parts from a work but, quite different, is to "copy" others' ideas without any reference or acknowledgement whatsoever. Just let it go
ReplyDeletelol. somehow this is true
ReplyDeletevery annoying and feels really hurtful, can't just get why some people are like that
