Meet My Friend, Susan Asakpa, The Beautiful Cab Driver

I'd be damned if I don't blog inspiring stories about my friends. Why then am I a lifestye blogger? Yeah. I have to reiterate that she is my friend. It's not everytime you see your friend on TV, hear about them on radio or read about them on a blog.

Susan Asakpa, The Beautiful Cab Driver

Asakpa Aghogho Susan is a graduate of Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Like me, she is not practising. She is a cab driver in Abuja.

Edima celebrated her on Facebook yesterday. She wrote this inspiring piece;
"Susan is a cab driver in Abuja. Yes, you heard me. She’s a woman cabbie who’s breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes.
An accountant who refused to stay home after graduation, she went job hunting. When that didn’t work, she created one for herself. She discussed her plans with her father and with his help, got her car and started business.
“At the end of the month, I make more than my colleagues in those accounting firms that pay peanuts.”

There are times when people turn down her services because she’s a woman. They believe a woman cabbie is a joke. Some believe she can’t drive as well as a man.
Some men and women often tell Susan to go home or find a “ladylike” job like sewing clothes or selling jewelry.

But Susan doesn’t let that faze her. Each day, she straps on her seatbelt, shifts the gear stick into drive and accelerates into life.
I’m celebrating Susan today.

Susan actually started this business when her boss revealed the plan to slash her monthly salary from N80,000 to N70,000. She was already getting bored with the job and felt she deserved an upgrade when the revelation of a salary slash came slapping her on the face.

That moment Susan decided she needed to be her own boss.

I am so proud of her! Suzzy also plans to start a transport company just for women in the future. She believes there are no jobs strictly for men. I remember we nicknamed her "women rights" back in school. Lol. She was always speaking out for the girls. Go Suzzy go Suzzy go!

When you do need a good cab service in Abuja, kindly call Susan - 08067101502.

P.S. You know where I first read this news? You guessed right! BMF - my favourite news blog atm. B-cube, thank you for blogging about her. God bless you. :)

P.S. S. I keep hearing good news from left, right and everywhere. I'm excited. A post on relationship will be coming up next. Please stay longer. Thanks.
